DH finally went to the urologist and he said that DH has a varicocele. UR is sending DH for a scrotal and renal u/s. Also having 2 SAs done.

Dh said he knew the mass was there, that it had been there as long as he could remember but it has never bothered him, so he didnt say anything.

I've done some reading and looked up some old treads and I see some of the guys have had surgery to fix/remove it. I dont know if DH will want to go that route.

Can any of you tell me what to expect? What is the u/s like, DH is rather worried about that. Any help or advice is appreciated.

The urologist thinks my husband has this, but he really only wanted to offer us surgury. When we started asking the IVF route he really did not want to answer our questions. We left very fustrated and now plan to see a fertility doctor.

My husband had varicocele as well (grade III varicocele, the worst one). He didn't get an u/s done. His numbers were fine, but he has antisperm antibodies that might impair fertility, so we decided he should get the surgery to increase our chances. His numbers almoust tripled after surgery, although that was not a problem before, and his anti-sperm antibodies went down. I just wanted to share my expirience, so I hope this info helps you.

Hey everyone, I am a 25 year old male volunteering in the Philippines. I was recently diagnosed with bilateral varicocele Phase 1 (R up to 3.2mm L up to 4.5mm). And basically, I am kind of freaking out. The Dr. didn't tell me much besides what it is, it can cause sterility, and I will have to deal with the "aching" when I work out and such... So some of my questions are: Is the aching normal when I work out or when it is excessively hot outside? If so do you all have any "tricks" to deal with it? Is my case (the size in mm) considered bad? I.E. higher than your numbers? If so will that make me more prone to sterility? Have people had the treatment? How did it work for you all? What is the price etc? What is my next step, sperm analysis? and then see my numbers and go from there? Is it good this was caught at a relatively early age?
