Everyone around me is getting pregnant...

I have two sisters. One older and one younger. Neither are married and both are now pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I love both of them, but I'm having internal difficulties being excited for them. I guess it boils down to neither of them are in a place where this is a good time, where as my hubby and I are. How do you put your issues aside and be able to talk about their appointments, go shopping with them and just be happy for them! Is that totally selfish?

I am going through the exact same thing. Everyone around me is pregnant, co-workers, my brothers wife, my girl friends. Although I am extremly happy for all of them it is very hard to deal with. My husband and I have been ttc for 2.5 yrs. About a year and a half ago we found out that his count was extremly low (5 mil), he had a varicocele which he had surgery for. Now next month will be one year since his surgery and still nothing. He was checked 3 months after surgery and his count, amazingly, was normal.(65 mil) I was glad to hear that there was something wrong so that we could fix it, but now I'm back to worring that there is something else.
My doctor wants to try IUI next. We go in the first week in September.
How about you? Have you been through IUI? Any insight??

I totally understand. Of course you are happy for them, but in your heart, you are sad. It's really nice to hear that I'm not the only one out there with the same feelings and issues. I thought I was going to go to hell for feeling the way I did with my sisters.

No, haven't done the IUI yet. I've read a lot about it. It seems much better the IVF and less expensive. I also read that it was not suppose to be very painful either.

My hubby has varicocele as well due to an injury as a kid. We had a horrible experience with the specialist we were seeing. I now feel like we are back to square one in some sense. Did your hubby see a Urologist for the varicocele? I'm trying to figure out what to do next. Whether to find another specialist or a Urologist for him.

How was the surgery? Was the recovery very long for him?

I know what you all are going through. Everyone around me is pregnant too. I got together with some friends this morning so our kids could play, I knew one of them was pregnant and then my other friend announced she was pregnant too. They weren't even trying and didn't want to have another one(this will be her third child). Another friend and sister in law are pregnant as well. That's a total of 4 people that announced their pregnancy in the past 2 months. I'm happy for them but I just feel like crawling under a rock. I just can't take anymore of this! I am so depressed and just feel so sad for myself. I hate she didn't just tell me over the phone and let me deal with the news and not have an emotional breakdown in public. I tried so hard not to cry but I'm a wreck!

Everythings on hold for me, waiting for a cyst to go away. I go back to the RE in two weeks. This will be our second visit. Thanks for letting me vent.

To clikm: My husband saw a urologist not a specialist. My Gyn. ref us to him, and we were very pleased. We were able to scedule his surgery at a outpatient surgery center instead of the hospital. We saved a lot of money in that aspect. (our insurance doesn't cover anything to do with infertility). His post-op recovery was 3-4days of laying around, but the soreness lasted a bit longer (2-3 weeks). His outcome was well worth the surgery, only three months after his count was in normal range. We are very pleased, but now unsure why were not getting pregnant.....
Good luck to you, and nice chatting with you. I am glad I am not alone!

Rubysmom - It stinks, doesn't it! One of my good friends is expecting her second. I've tried to share my feelings of sadness with my hubby, but he takes it so personal that he tends to not want to hear about it. (He has a low count). I hold back the tears all the time when my sisters talk about it. But we have to be strong and remember that there is a plan for us. That is what I have to keep telling myself anyway. I don't want this to come between of our relationships. Thanks for sharing and if you need a pep talk, just shoot me an email!

clikm, I'm feeling a little better since I wrote that reply. It had just happened that day and I was so upset. It's even more frustrating because everythings on hold right now. I know in a few weeks I will feel lots better and hopefully be able to be around them without feeling so sad for myself. Stay strong and yes I do believe there is a plan for us. This will just make us stronger. Good luck. Same to you, whenever you need encouragment or need to vent e-mail me as well.
