Has anyone had trouble getting a sample?

My DH has had trouble getting the samples for IUI. He has low testosterone, which we thought we had addressed, plus has a neck injury & on lots of meds so not for sure which is causing the issue.

Was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

Thanks,
Staci

I think it's probably not the easiest thing to do when there's such a pressure to perform. I usually write DH a pretty detailed and provactive letter. That usually works rather well for him. I don't know if that would help your DH, but maybe you could try.

Thanks Jana. I tried to "help" actually and we tried naturally later in the day without success. It is a physical problem, not just stress. We think the testosterone is the issue but we thought we had corrected that and starting to have problems again so don't know for sure.

My DH does not have a testosterone problem but has been unable to present with the semen sample so far. It seems like pure nerves, but maybe not. I was allowed to "help" collect the sample and it still couldn't happen... any other suggestions?

My husband is able to collect the sample at home, which takes some of the stress off of him. It takes us almost an hour to get to the clinic, which is just in time. Sometimes he uses a "provocative" video to help him out. i don't know if he would be able to do it at a clinic. I think once they have trouble, they anticipate it and worry about it, which makes it a whole lot worse. It seems like the more pressure they put on themselves, the harder it is.

Well the we are going to collect at a hotel close to the clinic since we live over an hour from them. Maybe this will take the stress level down so that we can get the sample we need.

I had little trouble, the first one I did at home and then it was very cold outside so it wasn't as good a sample, so I did the next one at the clinic, i had more trouble there, but it wasn't too bad.
