Any men using/used Clomid?

My DH's urologist has put him on Clomid which normally is given to women. Has any of you taken it and did you see any success? What about fertility supplements? He also wanted him to take Proxeed, which is like $125/mth so I'm holding off on that.

Any help I would appreciate it!

I'm not sure about the Clomid but my husband has been taking tons of supplements and going to weekly acupuncture appts. for the last 3 months. His SA to find out if that worked at all was today. We should have the results by Thursday. I'll be sure to post and let you know what he is taking if helped. Hopefully it did!

Thank you for the response! Please let me know the results and what supplements he was taking. My DH hates to take medicine so if I can get some supplements instead that will work he'd be more eager to do it.

My DH took clomid for 3 months before our first IVF. His results were better but we still had to do IVF w/ICSI. He has since stopped smoking, takes l-carnitine and other supplements and has acupuncture. He had another SA yesterday so we'll know in a week or so if the lifestyle changes helped. Best of luck to you.

My husband took it for 90 days. Our RE said you should see results by then. We unfortunately did not have any luck, but I know there are others who have. He had some moodiness while on it.

My husband has been taking it since January (1/4 tablet nightly) and his count and motility have greatly increased. Like, his count went from 6 million to 151 million. Of course, because he has low volume, that 151 averaged out to 15.1 million (dont understand it, but thats what the nurse said). So, I'm a big proponent for it!

Wow Sara that is a huge jump! Congrats!

Well we got my husband SA back today after his 3 months of vitamins. His count jumped to 8mil per ml and his volume was 3 ml. His motility went down to 36% and his morphology was 0%! Agghh!

I'm not sure what to think. The Dr. is on vaca and won't be in till Monday so he is supposed to call us then and advise us.

I read about something called pycnogenol that is supposed to really help morphology. I'm going to ask our acupuncturist/herbalist tomorrow.

I may just have to ask the Dr. about Clomid too!

We've done IVF twice now with different doctors each time. We also have to do TESE due to MF. The first time my husband wasn't on anything, and results were poor. The second time my husband was on Clomid and on Fertility Blend for men. The results still weren't great, but they were much better than the first time. Good luck.

Hi.....I'm the "DH" using my wife's username. I used clomid for three months and saw no improvement in motility or count. It does work well for some (as I have read). Unfortunately, not for me.

This time, I have been taking a daily multi-vitamin and a large daily dose of Acetyl L-Carnitine and have seen my best results to date. Not enough to conceive naturally, but a significant improvement. I am a smoker (FYI quite 2 weeks ago).

My husband has been on Clomid for about 90 days with no luck. He's azoospermic, and the Clomid hasn't triggered any sperm production... but that doesn't mean it won't work for others. Our next step is for him to have a TESE procedure where they surgically go in looking for sperm. Stay positive!!
