To close for cousins??

SIL just "claimed" the name Braden. Brady has been "our" name for years...since before DH and I were married. I know people change their minds as far as names go. But on the off-chance that they have a Braden, is Brady to similar? If you had two nephews named Brady and Braden, would you think it was wierd?

No! Use whatever name you want. My BF had an Owen 5 months before I had my Owen. I figured it was the name I had picked out for years and I was using it.

I agree. Use whatever name you want. I made the mistake of sharing my favorite girl's name with my cousin, and she had a daughter recently and used the name. I was shocked!! My mom said that if I ever have a girl I can still use the name, and I think I will. We do not see each other anymore, but even if we did I would still use the name.

We had Jaden already picked out before our first MC but no one knew. Since then a cousin named their child Aiden. So our son will have a 2nd cousin named Aiden and a 1st cousin named Zaeden.

Of course I also come from a family where we have about 5 different men named Ron so I guess where used to similar names!

That depends on if you feel comfortable with it. We have a nephew named Cayden and in two weeks we'll have a new baby girl in the family named Kaydence. Similar but different.

I wish we had the option to keep the name...we loved Hailei and everyone knew it....and SIL is prego too and found out before us that she is having a girl...we dont know the sex of our twins yet...so she is naming her daughter Hailey and I just can't they will go to the same school and have the same last name it's too much...I wish it was an option...so I say if you can still do it then go for it!!!!!!

I have 2 nieces who are named Kaylin and Kaitlyn. Yes they are similar but Kaylin is about 8 yrs older than her cousin Kaitlyn.

I'm sure it is frustrating, but you should still use the name you like.

I see what you mean but in our case they would both have the same name just spelt differently and would be in the same grade in the same school...I think that's too much similarity...we have picked other names now and are keeping them to ourselves when it comes to preggo friends/fam in the area to avoid the same mishap again...lol
