Need help with names

We are pretty much settled on a girls name ( I hope)
but are stuggling with a boys name. My husband has always like the name "Marcus", and I like it too, but I don't think it's very popular. What do you ladies think?

For a second name dh said the other night as he was touching my belly that the name Adrien popped into his mind.

So "Marcus Adrien", I like the name Aiden, so "Marcus Aiden"? Is this too old fashion a name?

Hi,

I don't think it's old fashioned...Aiden is one of the most popular boys' names at the moment. Are you of Irish descent?

No, I just like the name. And I like the name "Marcus", but it's not used very much. I wouldn't like is shortened either.

I don't think Marcus is old fashion at all. Not to mention the fact that I happen to like the names that aren't all the most popular. I was one of 3 Jennifer's in my class in High School and one of 6 Jennifer's in my college classes (and the whole class was only 16 people!). For us it wasn't about the popularity of the name as much as the meaning. We chose something that meant something to us as parents, us in our struggle, and us in our faith.

I like the name Marcus. I think it is epecially nice with Adrien because it has 3 syllables, vs Aiden which is 2. I think it flows better.

Marcus is a great name...the fact that it is less common is a bonus, not a negative. I'm with Jen...I was one of many many Jennifer's in school.

And either middle name works. You should go with what you and DH like, not what others think

Thanks for your comments ladies. Claudia I didn't even think about the syllable thing. See that's why I need you guys. Adrien was the name that popped into my dh's head, so we'll probably go with that. The only thing I'm worried about is if the name Marcus gets shortened when he is older, but I guess I can't control everything.

Question, are you ladies telling people about the sexes? We have, so know we've decided to keep the names a secret. This is tough though because everyone is asking.

Don't worry, I'd never keep them a secret from you guys .

So what do you think "Sofia Cristina" and "Marcus Adrien"?

We told everyone the gender and the name at the same time. DH had the names picked out so we were just waiting on the confirmation of gender before we released names to anyone. It's been nice because we've gotten some great personalized gifts for him and people have been referring to him by name for months as though they already know him.

I love the names, if we have a boy the middle name will be Mark because both of our father's names are Mark.

Those names are so cute!

And you gotta tell people...see if you have a creative Aunt (like I do) or other relative that is crafty, they might make you something special with the babies names on it before they are born, or for shortly after (these projects can take time)

I'm sure my mom will have something to say about our choice. My sisters ex husbands name is Mark. I don't mind the name, but we really like Marcus, so we will use it as much as we can.

Brother's name is Marcus

Hi there,
Just thought I'd chime in here, my brother's name is Marcus. Somewhere in Elementary school and through high school, people started called my brother "Marc". Then when he went to college, he "reinvinted" himself, and now people who know him from college on through working now call him "Marcus". It was kind of hard for me to change and start calling him Marcus.
So, yes, it will probably happen that some people call him Marc, but not neccessarily. And I like the name both ways!
