I have the whole thing planned out! I have the crib in mind and the changing table, the dresser, the color the theme! I have frames from my last pregnancies! I got one each pregnancy to go along with the ultra-sounds with a picture in each one. I thought about throwing the pictures away but decided against it.
My theme is Noah's Ark. A soft green color and all the baby animals all over the room. We also have lots of clothes and bibs! I even have one from London that is my favorite it says "Please mind the gap." for the subway system there called the Tube. We have everyone who goes anywhere get us baby bibs and binkies that way we can have bibs and binkies from all over the world. DH got me a baby onsie in France that is adorable! It is the old fashoned kind that snaps on the butt area and has Le Bebe on the front. I am going to order a bunch of them when we have a bundle on the way naturally or adopted!!!

I've had a lot of different things in mind. DH wants to do a white crib if we have a girl and a dark maple if we have a boy. So I told him if we have twins, one of each, he may have to do some alterations. He's big on decorating, he's got the eye! Right now the room is a light mint green color and our carpet is neutral. It's the only room in our house that we got ready as soon as we moved in hoping for a little bundle to join us soon there after. Now my nieces just sleep in there when they come to visit.
I don't want the all pink, all blue rooms but I want to incorporate a few things. Maybe like patch work. I want a gliding chair, their names across the walls, etc. Other than that we haven't made too many big decisions. Trying not to get our hopes up.

Don't have all the details worked out yet. I know I don't want your standard room, not foofy pink or blue with baseballs. It is currently painted a pale yellow with white trim and light wood floors so I am guessing it will stay that way. The only thing I do know for sure is that we have an antique child's bed from my DH's family that we plan to use at some point between the crib and big bed stage.

Question for you all...
Are you like me? I refuse to go in that room! Infact we bought our house 2 stories FOR CHILDREN! The master and main part of the house is downstairs. So I do not go upstairs at all! That is DH's domain, he has his bathroom up there if he is working up there! My parents stay up there in one of the rooms when they visit but I wait for them downstairs! I can not handle it! I went up there one day and sat in the bay window of the nursery and cried myself to sleep! DH found me when he got home from work and threatened to put a lock on that room door becuase I could not get out of the "funk" I was in. Then 2 weeks later my parents were coming to visit DH asked me to vacume up there since he was busy and I did! He has left me a love note on the guest room bed for me! I went to put it in the dresser there where I store things ( used to me our old dresser before we got a new bed and bed room set) and opened the drawer to find baby clothes and ultra sound pics! Again I fell apart and DH felt badly he thought the love note would be a good thing! It was I tried to explain but the clothes and picture were hard. I can talk about clothers and pictures now but not sure if I can see them! Sorry to go on and on about this!

I want a mural. With tons and tons of activity! I love bold fun colors that you don't see together often like orange, lime green and bright yellow. Sounds busy huh? LOL! I promise it's going to be DIVINE!
For a boy...I like the chocolate and spa blue. It seems so calming and I, like most of you, don't want typical rooms. I bought Candace Olson's design book (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HER!) and she has some VERY unique kids rooms pictured. You should check it out. It's the only book she has out now. She's from the HGTV show, Divine Design. Also...for some cool inspiration...go to HGTV : Decorating, Remodeling, Gardening, Entertaining & Crafts Videos and more : Home & Garden Television and click on Designer Portfolio's. In the search criteria part click Kid's Rooms and you'll see some GORGEOUS, FUN, non-traditional as well as traditional rooms. I could go on and on for DAYS about this. LOL! Glad I'm not the only odd one. LOL!

uh, well as we are entering our SEVENTH YEAR of TTC, we don't have any plans.
Seven years ago I bought baby stuff, clothes, bibs, and maternity stuff - of course now hopeless out of fashion... The room that was for baby is now an office and full of junk (we have a friend who calls this type of room a 'throw room' because you just throw stuff in... but that was probably obvious). Meredith, the room was empty for a while, but the longer it went on, we decided we could/should use the space. Anyway, we have a guest room for the IL's when they visit from the UK. At this stage of the game, we just plan to have a crib in our room and then turn the guest room into baby's room with little effort, poor baby. Sounds like I'm way past the whole nursary thang. We don't have big plans. At this point, I dunno, I was all into it seven years ago, but now I just want the baby, all the rest is icing. But you go, plan away, more power to ya, guess I'm just lazy in my old age ![]() Love, Julie

Meredith, the second bedroom in our house has the door shut at all times. The only time that the door is open is when we have our nieces over to spend the night. We have an old crib that we got for free and so it's too hard to pass an empty room with an empty crib everyday. DOOR REMAINS SHUT!

My husband will trade work with an artist his company hires out so we'll get her to paint a mural on the nursery wall. I want it to be something adaptable as she's not cheap and she'll probably own my husband's soul for a couple of years afterwards. I'm thinking maybe a dragonfly theme for a girl and a zoo type thing for a boy. Any other ideas?

YES. I think about this a lot. The "tiny bedroom" as we now call it would...err, sorry, WILL be the nursery. For the past 2 years we've had a couch, dresser and filing cabinet in there. In the dresser, I have two books that were given to me that I'm holding on to. Like baby books - just ones that you write notes in to your baby BEFORE they are born. I'm holding on to those.
As for decor - I love pink and brown for girls, blue and brown for boys. I think we'll probably go simple - maybe just stripes. Although I have always loved John Lennon's illustrations that he did for kids' stuff. I think they have it on material for curtains and bedding now. I have often thought that I should just redecorate this room and go ahead and paint it yellow, something neutral, but change it up. I can always redo it once the babies actually arrive. It might be cathartic. Versus sitting and waiting. LL
