Thumbs down Anyone have allergies?

I'm just curious who has allergies here.

I have a horrible allergy to Brazil nuts. I have to carry around the Epi-pen with me in case I accidentally eat them. It's awful. I'm always afraid I'll eat something with Brazil nuts in them when I'm out. And nowadays, restaurants keep adding nuts to everything! I have to ask everytime I eat out if what I'm ordering is nutty or not. The funny thing is, I'm not allergic to peanuts, which is great, because I'm a peanut butter freak. I guess because peanuts aren't technically "nuts" but legumes that's why I'm not allergic to them.

Anyone else like me.... a permanent Epi-pen carrier?

Oh, and guess what? I don't let the boys eat nuts because my pediatrician told me that they could have the allergy, too. GREAT.

I feel lucky not to have any food allergies or bee stings etc. that require the epi pen. I do have airborn allergies - like pollent, dust, dander and mold. I gave up Claratin when I found I was pregnant, and I actually don't feel any worse now than I did while taking it!!

The congestion drives me crazy, and I just can't sleep if I take pseudoephedrine, so I just use the nasal strips and hope I make it thru the night. So, I don't have medication allergies, just sensitivities.

I have environmental and an allergy to Avalox (an antibiotic) but nothing that requires the use of an epi-pen.

Will they be able to test your boys for nut allergies?

I too carry an Epi-pen most of the year, due to a severe bee sting allergy. Therefore I am horribly terrified of bees. It's sad really.

I am also allergic to mean people, unfortunately Epi-pen won't cure that!

I don't have any severe allergies that require medical attention or an epi-pen. Just the normal; ragweed, pollen, mold.

However after my antibiotic has made me feel sick all week my nurse is questioning whether I might have had a slight reaction to it. I actually tossed my cookies this morning in the parking lot before going in for my b/w and u/s - nice huh?

It's not too unusual to have sensitivities to antibiotics. They can make you nauseaus, esp. if taken w/o food (or is it w/ food?). But it's good for you doc to know they made you sick, of course. Not that I'm a nurse or anything...

Jen, I had mentioned this to the pediatrician a while back but when the boys go for their checkup in November for the 4 year old visit, I'm going to ask. I think that I should have them tested this way I definitely know for sure. I'm tired of wondering!

I don't have endo, but I have severe allergies to pollen, trees, cats, dogs, grass, avocados, shell fish, weeds, dust, mites, etc...I used to live on allegra and zrytec, but stopped all my meds a few months ago.
