Question Anyone Else Have Low Blood Pressure?

Does anybody else have low blood pressure? When I take mine, the bottom number is always well below 60, like around 53 or something. I feel very tired all the time and I'm dizzy and lightheaded a lot. I've been like this for years and when I addressed this with my dr last year, she told me that my BP was great and that I shouldn't worry. But I'm always feeling wiped out!

My mom wants me to go back to the dr and talk to her again but I hate to go when I'm not technically sick (plus, money is a bit tight right now and I'm not planning to spend $25 on myself unless I am sick). I've had a battery of tests run and everything showed that I was fine. So, I know it's not something serious, but I just wish I didn't feel so woozy.

Any suggestions on what to do??

Have you by chance had your thyroid checked? My bottom number of my blood pressure is usually in the 60s as well. My normal body temperature (resting) is only about 95/96 degrees. In my case it was linked to my underactive thyroid. Funny thing when I went in for my ER my temperature was 97.8 and my husband joked that with all the hormones I was finally getting closer to normal!

Karen: My SIL has this same problem but she is on blood pressure medicine for high blood pressure...but it knocks her down so low sometimes, that she says she feels just like you are describing. Can you get a self taking blood pressure machine and keep a journal of your readings...like when you get up, when you've been up awhile, and before bed. Then you can take it to your doctor to show him/her. That is what we have our patients do (I'm an RN). Hope this helps.

Blessings, Michelle

I have low blood pressure too... everytime I take it that is what they say and I ask if this is an issue and no one has told me it is.

I am really tired of being broken!

Michelle, I actually just bought a blood pressure machine yesterday (I'd been using my mom's when I was at her house) so now I can take it more regularly and keep an eye on it. I actually had an episode a few weeks back where I think I blacked out. Aaron came in early one morning and asked for juice and I got out of bed really fast and I must have gotten woozy. The next thing I remember is sitting on the floor and holding my arm (I'd whacked it so hard on the bed frame that I got a huge bruise) and having DH and Aaron standing over me, wondering what happened. But I'm so glad you posted back, Michelle. I knew we had a few RNs out there and I wanted your opinion. I'll let you know how I make out with my new little contraption.

Mine is like that too and I get light-headedness easily too. The drs always say this is good and normal.

NOT GOOD, NOT NORMAL!! Those (plus a few more) are the exact symptoms I was having. The blacking out was a huge problem for me. One thing you can do is to up your sodium levels! Eat anything with salt that you can! That will raise your levels and also, lots of water, as much as you can possibly drink without getting sick.

I am on a blood pressure medication to raise it--Midodrine. You could check into that. Also, I had a tilt table test to check my blood pressure levels when standing up and I passed out almost immediately--you should consider having this done.

Don't want to scare you, but I have had this problem for most of my life and some of the things I have heard from several doctors that could've happened if I hadn't gotten looked at when I did, it is a scary thing! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me!
