Today’s Turning Point
Monday, March 5 Flywheels of Faith And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 We can understand how all the good things in life work for our benefit, but how on earth can the bad things work toward our good? In his expositions of the eighth chapter of Romans, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones used a shrewd illustration to explain it. "When you take the cover off a pocket watch," he said, "you notice that one wheel is turning clockwise, but another is turning in a reverse direction. You look at the wheels and you say, 'This is ridiculous; here are wheels turning in opposite directions; the man who made this watch must have been mad.'" But the watchmaker knew exactly what he was doing. One wheel turns one way, and another in another way; but the are all working toward the same conclusion. The Christian life is not problem free, but God gives grace to bear the problems. If you can't understand some of the counterclockwise circumstances of life right now, trust the Lord who wisely places the wheels and gears of life together for our good. You can trust Him enough to cast all your cares into His omnipotent arms. Your times are in His hands. God is overruling everything for our good. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones Recommended Reading Romans 8:28-30 Read-Thru-the-Bible Deuteronomy 32:1 - 34:12
