Need support/advice

Ok, I am having a really hard time at work. A few weeks ago I asked for a new department since they were doing some promotions and moves. Well, I didn't get anything and wasn't given a reason (although I didn't ask for one because last time--a year ago--all I got were excuses and was told that I would be in their minds next time) and didn't want a reason.

There have been other things but it has always been here and there. Yesterday my manager tells me that two different people have told her that I am going down to part time and my doctor is writing me a note to that effect. This is completely untrue. Today she pulled me in the office to tell me that she had someone come up to her saying I am not pulling my own weight, not working my own freight (new merchandise), left a project for a week, and they can't tell that I have done anything when they work after me. Ok, I am the supervisor of the department, which means I do all the little paper work stuff, deal with displays, fix anything that was done wrong, work the freight, plan out projects, etc, etc.

I don't know who is telling her these things but she is talking to me and looking at me like I am lying to her!!!!!

What can I really do?????? I don't get it!!!! She won't give me details so I don't even know who it is that is mad at me! This is very hurtful to me and I have no clue who it even is! I am still in the same position that I was in before the store officially opened and have paid medical leave and everything, I just don't want to loose all that because of someone trying to harrass me!

6/12: 6 month appt. (at 7 months) 15lbs & 26 1/2 inches!!!!!!!!
8/14: 16.9lbs (10th percentile) and 28.5 inches (75th percentile)!!!
9/28: 18.5lbs

Oh hun so sorry you are having some work issues. What a cruel thing for someone to do. I am not sure how I would handle it. I guess I would just tell your boss that you are not sure why someone is mis-informing her but that you do you job well and will continue to in the future. I may avoide chit-chat with others for a while till you know who is behind the lies.

Hang in there and just keep up the good work. Sooner or later the boss will see that you are working hard.

If you are the supervisor, I would sit your group down and start asking questions. I would start by asking that each person start showing accountability reports; what they are accomplishing on whatever levels your company expects them to be completed. I would then ask to speak with your boss, closed door. Explain you are not asking for names, but you have the right to know who would be creating such lies, that is defamation of character, especially if there is nothing to back this up. I would specify that she would want the same from you or her bosses, correct? Okay, sorry I was a little rough in jumping to the point.....just my nature with my line of work for so many years. When you demand respect, answers, and compliance.....yes it can be hard to swallow at first....but more people respect and trust you for that. (Sorry for typos and bad spelling, late & no sc.) Hi, I am in complete agreement with Trish. If I were in your shoes today, I would absolutely speak to my team about confidence, trust and integrity. Explaining that this is and will remain part of their roles and they are expected to comply to this as part of a team. The other thing is - your boss, I am concerned about this individual as a manager and professional. What type of setting are these conversations in? Does she have documented evidence about these untruths? If not, why is she telling you...if she is not documenting these things, then I would assume it should be discounted information. As your manager, she should really care about your future and growth. If she doesn't, then I am not sure of her quality as a manager. I would definitely have a closed door discussion on ways of working together in the future. Explaining that you trust her and that you respect her - and would like the same back.

I would also not disclose any personal information that can be used against you - as these people are not your friends - they are your co-workers. You never know who could be vying (sp?) for your job.

Be cool, confident and just be sure to communicate how respect is the most important quality...

I have learned a very important lesson in all this--these people are my coworkers, that is it! I don't really care who it is or why they are trying to discredit me. The manager has no proof of anything, just what "people" are telling her. This is retail and this kind of stuff happens all the time but it has been such a good environment up until now. I don't get to talk to many of my part timers because I only pass them or don't see them for weeks at a time! I just don't get why someone would want to do this to me.

Don't sweat it girlfriend. I learned at my last job to not worry about what other people think or say. I'm responsible for myself and my work, no one elses. If they are going to treat you this way and make excuses and accusations then you be sure to monitor when others aren't doing their job. You can't be expected to do everything but what you can do, do it with all you have and be proud of a job well done. You've worked too hard to get to this point!

You're right, I have worked too hard to let this get to me. I have heard I am not the only one feeling harrassed with stuff like this so I will see what is going to happen. I have my direct supervisor trying to figure out what is going on (he should be able to get more information than me). I guess all I can do is wait right now and not let it get to me.
