OMG your poor kitties!!! Sedatives can be a godsend, but they can make some kitties feel really weird and make them even more squirrelly...the bathroom sounds like a good temporary solution.

It's soooo hard to keep pets quiet after they've been treated! They feel better once they get fixed up and get some pain killers, and want to get back to life as normal, but obviously they can't. When our puppy Jaida had her leg amputated last summer we had to keep her crated for two weeks, because she just wouldn't stay quiet! She had a HUGE incision on her chest, a bazillion stitches, and all she wanted to to was run around and play with our other dog! Crazy! She's going to be seeing an orthopaedic specialist soon, because one of her back legs is acting wonky and making her more gimpy than usual (which is pretty gimpy for a three-legged dog!!!) It's hard seeing the furbabies sick or hurting. I hope your kitties get better quick!
Here's Jaida only a few weeks after the surgery, her first day back in her pool and very happy!

AWWW Jaida is beautiful! I hope that her back leg turns out to be nothing serious!

I think the pain meds make Cajun even more crazy!

That too is what we were dealing with until the sedatives. The vet told me it was the same medication they give small children and that it's actually an antidepressant. I kinda gave her a funny look when she said that, but I couldn't help it. lol

I am just counting down the time until I can leave! (1/2 hour more) so that I can get home to see how he is doing and let him out to move his legs a little!

I've been debating on what to do with him now. He was a 1/2 inside-1/2 outside cat. Now I want him to be all inside, or at least only outside on a leash or something so this doesn't happen again. I don't live on a busy street or anything, but who knows how far he roams. I do not want a litter box in the house, especially with TTC and there is no good place to put it where it wouldn't be in the way. Someone else suggested to me putting up a clothesline in the yard with a leash and hooking him to that. I think that would work, until he got out of the collar--and I'm pretty sure he would!

There are automatic litter boxes out there that eliminate the cleaning of a box by a person but they're quite expensive. We have one, it cost us close to $500 when it was all said and done but there is no way we'd ever get rid of it. I know there are cheaper ones out there that you can buy at the pet store. (We ordered ours off the internet)

I wonder if he could adapt to being an indoor kitty? I've never had outdoor cats except on the farm but those were farm cats.

Hmmm....I don't think the clothesline idea is so good for a kitty...I can think of too many things that could go wrong. Maybe a little "cat run"? Caged-in area with a roof?

Thanks dude. I personally think it's rather clever myself, if I do say so...myself (and I do, apparently). "just keep swimming...just keep swimming...."....It's my IUI mantra. And it's Ellen. I mean, come on

Sorry about your kitty....I had a cat that "pulled a muscle" from jumping to much (she was 18 at the time) and the vet had us keep her in her carrier cage when we weren't home with her and then she could come out when we were home but we had to keep a close eye on her....I didn't like the idea of giving sedatives (mainly because she got mad) We did this for about a week and by that time she was much better. Hopefully your kitty gets better...

I think this is the month for animal problems...one of our "foster dogs" (my DH's brothers dog that we take care of full time because he couldn't handle him) passed away...he went to sleep in his dog house and didn't wake up....it sounds like everyone's animals are having problems....hopefully all of our animals can now stay HEALTHY!!!

I hope your kitty recovers soon. When I had my cat neutered she opened her stitches twice because she just kept jumping up the furniture. so we had to keep her in her cage for almost a week so she didn't move as much. She didn't like it but it worked.

What kind of automatic box do you have. A friend of mine also has one, though I am waiting to hear back from her on what kind!

I have done a little research and am leaning toward a catgenie--its automated and flushes waste down the water line and self washes. I'm just not sure what the best kind is and am willing to invest to keep kitty safe!

That's exactly what we've got. It took our two a bit of getting used to and our boy, the one who got burned, used to get poop on his paws on occasion. We may have started them a little too early on it. I recommend the unscented sanitizer because the scented stuff stinks up the whole house it seems. We have it wash about three times a day but that is with two six month old cats. Like I said, it took us some getting used to but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Your dog is beautiful I just showed DH her picutre and we both started crying because she looks so much like our dog Terra who we had to put down three weeks ago.

I hope her hip is going to be ok

This is a picture of Terra taken last year she was 13 and a lot older than Jaida. Boy the picture of your dog brought back a lot of good memories of Terra when she was a pup.
