help with hospital care basket

Hey girls! My SIL is going into the hospital on Thursday at 24 weeks pregnant. She is having indentical twins that are sharing one sac. Because of the high risk, she and the babies must be monitored constantly. Her dr.'s goal is for her to make it to 34 weeks. This means that she will be on bedrest in the hospital for about 10 weeks. I am going to put together a HUGE basket full of things to brighten her days there. I am actually making her fill out a survey that will help me to put things in there that she will actually enjoy. I am braindead today and all I've got so far is:

1. Favorite drink?
2. Favorite sweet snack?
3. Favorite salty snack?
4. Favorite color?
5. magazine?
6. author?
7. scent?

Anyone have any ideas of things to include in either the survey or basket??

THANKS!

How about books, movies, does she have a laptop and internet access from her room, can you include change for vending machines? How about her favorite blanket and pillows? I'm trying to think of all the stuff we took to the hospital for all my hospital stays. Hope this helps!

Hello

Mothers day is coming up, theme her room for this special day. Maybe silk flowers if not real flowers, you need to bring the outdoors into her. Puzzle books, latchhook, needle point, board games, pictures of loved ones. alot of snacks, pudding, applesauce, massage pillow for legs, make me beautiful items, nail polish, facial scrubs, things that will let her know she is so beautiful even on bedrest....good luck

Hi Amy -

I can't think of anything else to add, loooks like everyone has it covered, but I wanted to say that is really sweet of you and I wish your SIL and the twins the best! Please keep us updated on their progress. Does she know the sex of the babies yet? Maybe a fun baby name book if they haven't decided on any? Or maybe she could start putting together a scrapbook of the pregnancy? Trying to think of things that would keep her busy for a couple hours each day. Maybe knitting?

xoxo

Does she have access to a cd player or mp3? You could download some music or give her a cd.

How about a really pretty soft pillow case for her own pillow or a new pillow. Whatever would be her favorite. The hospital bedding is always too starchy. What about a soft blanket to cuddle with or cozy slippers or socks.

Some nice lotion or body butter and hand soap would be apprecitated. I always hated the soap supplied at the hospitals.

I think it is wonderful that you are doing this for your SIL

I think the scrapbook idea is good too. Maybe a journal to record things in. Room fragrance stuff, aromatherapy kind of stuff (hospitals smell!).

If internet is not available,
What about her address book with stationary, post cards, assorted cards and envelopes and STAMPS. Dont forget pens..
So, that she can keep family, friends or coworkers updated.

What a fantastic idea.. I totally agree with some scrapbooking items, flowers are always great...
How about some art? Music is great to set the mood. Maybe even some PJ's I can't imagine those gowns are looking so hot especially if she is having twins. Some hair accesories??
I know they don't allow candles, but glade makes these great flameless candles.. Just a thought.. Please post pics when you're done. I would love to see it.

Maybe crossword puzzles if that is not too lame or travel size board games for her and Dh. Oh and maybe a couple fun things just for Dh too so he doesn't feel left out. Good luck with everything and I will keep the babies in my prayers.

This is just a thought, but usually when they have you in the hospital for an extended time they don't make you wear a hospital gown. How about some soft jammies? Good slipper socks are always good too since hospitals are always cold and the floors are slippery. It might be nice to have a few personal pictures in frames to look at around the room.

Hey Amy- How about some thank you notes or cards for her shower, this way she can fill address them ahead of time and nothave to worry about it later.

Also one of those hand held poker games or some card game?
Movies for the laptop. SOme essential oils for pleasant smells and maybe even a gift certif for a facial(maybe you could get someone to come in and do one for her).

Compy socks with no slip bottoms.
A nice green plant for the window.
SOme pictures of friends and families.
Definitely some nice soaps and shampoos.
Good luck!

Oh and if they allow it, a little table lamp for some ambient lighting.

Amy,

Do tell what you bought, and if you don't mind take a pic once you have it all put together.

I had wanted to tell you that Linen and Things has this really nice squishy pillow that is just so squishy and great!!! I am sure other places have them as well, but I was thinking if she is having lower back pain or something that would be perfect to tuck back there. Just a suggestion.
