Hi Toby
![]() I prolly need to shed about 75 lbs...ugh...just the thought of it. My husband tells me its not what I eat, its how much I eat, so together he and I have been measuring my intake....I actually eat a serving...lol...which is something odd to me. I've always just eatten till I was full. Also, cutting out soda's and other sugars...which is prolly the hardest, since I am addicted to Coke and sweet tea ![]() Just trying to eat smarter, drink TONS of water....and get out and exercise every day...mostly just walking ![]() I think sticking to it will be hard as well, and I have considered joining a diet group online...but I need to be able to do this by myself...I need to train myself to eat/live right ![]() I'm here anytime you wanna talk!

Hi,
I just thought I would let you know that Weight Watchers has a great "points" program. I have lost 25 pounds on it before and I have 2 friends who have lost 40 and 35 pounds and another one who has lost 15 in her goal of 60. It offers support at meetings and makes sure you not only eat enough, but that you eat healthy. I am sure it is not for everyone but I have really liked the program. I now look at food in a different way, it really changed my lifestyle. Good luck in your weight lose and IF. I am currently doing WW and have IF issues, except my issues are because of DH, not me specifically. LBL |

Weight Watchers for 14 years! WOW! Talk about a life-style change!
Ladybug...I have two of the WW points books, but I don't know where to start...I really don't want to spend the money to join on-line (we live in Germany right now...My hubby is military). Is there any information that you can give me on how to get started...Like how many points I should have and what "free foods" there are. I've tried finding some stuff on-line, but you have to pay for it! Thanks for your help! Maybe we can be of use to eachother! ![]() toby |

The meetings are key
Toby, I could give you all the info you asked for (I'm a WW leader), but I really urge you to invest the money and join a meeting (I'm sure there's one on base).
I thought I'd hate the meetings but I found them invigorating and helpful and supportive. And that's not just my experience, studies have shown that people who attend weight loss meetings lose more weight that those who try it on their own. Furthermore, the weekly weigh-ins (which are private) really help you stay accountable. Spending the money every week, also keeps you accountable. I weigh less now than I did in HS. I've kept it off for a year. I'm sure I would have quit without the structure of the meetings. |

I would join and pay the money if I didn't have to do it all by myself...I have never seen anything about WW meetings on base...And I don't trust myself to just check-in online. I am afraid that I would just waste that money because it would be easy not to log-in. However, if I had a friend or if I knew someone that would help keep me accountable, I'd pay WHATEVER it took to get this weight off!
![]() You want to come to Germany and set up meetings for us!?! I'd love that! So, what do you think I should do from here...? I'm willing to give it a try, but if I am going to join a program like WW, I really do need the support for the first little bit, you know? Thanks for all your help! I do appreciate it!toby |

Hi,
Go to Dottie's weight lose zone www.dwlz.com and she has a lot of WW info on it. For the points, here are the guidelines. The points are determined by how much you weigh , so as you loose weight, your points change also. General guidelines: 150-174 is 20-25 points 175-199 is 22-27 points 200-224 is 24-29 points 225-249 is 26-31 points 250-274 is 28-33 points 275-299 is 29-34 points 300-324 is 30-35 points 325-349 is 31-36 points. I know you can sign up online and I did that for a while because it helps you to calculate points and stuff. I think it is only about $14 a month or something. For me, it just works better if I go to the meetings and check in with someone. It holds me accountable to a total stranger and for some reason , I need that. I agree with spaypets, it works best if you can find a meeting, but I also realize that there may not be one close to you!You can also find other WW cookbooks and stuff at half price book stores and stuff, if they have those in Germany, or online, I think half price books has a webpage. My brother is in Frankfurt, Germany and will be home in November. He is a missionary but loves it when he gets to go to the base and eat Taco Bell! Good luck! Toby
I've emailed Weight Watchers and will see if I can find a list of meetings. I can't imagine that there aren't like minded women out there on base who would like some help losing weight.
Where in Germany are you? --Spay |

Hello Spaypets!
![]() I'm in Sembach, Germany...But there are a few other bases close by that might give you a match...Vogelweh, Ramstein, or Landstuhl bases are very close and bigger than Sembach! Or, you may find one under Kaiserslautern, Germany? I really really hope that you find something! That would just be the coolest! Thanks so much for looking into it for me! Keep me posted! toby |

Hi Toby
Sorry, WW just got back to me.
Here's their reply: "If you will forward the link below to her this will take her to the International sites. She would have to contact the franchise in Germany to find out if there are any English speaking meetings. Unfortunately, we do not have that in formation. http://www.weightwatchers.com/international.aspx " Not very helpful, I'm afraid. How's your German? ;-) I don't know much about the military, but is there a health center -- they might know or maybe a family help center. I just can't imagine there wouldn't be a need for something like Weight Watchers among the wives there. Maybe there's a former leader lurking -- is there a base newspaper where you could post an ad? |

Weight does play into if you can get pregnant or not. I'm overweight, but after going through infertility, I found out that I have Polycystic Ovarian Disease. It is harder for a person to lose weight with this disease and there is no cure. Please check with your doctors to rule out PCOS. I wasn't even aware there was a disease out there like that. Some of the symptoms are irregular periods, facial hair, acne and skin tags. Those are just a few. I did get pregnant, but miscarried shortly there after. Me and my husband ended up adopting. Good luck to everyone on their weight issues. I'm in the same boat.

WEIGHT WATCHERS
HI THERE EVERYONE.JUST WANT TO COMMENT ON WEIGHT WATCHER SUCCESS. BOTH MY MOM AND MY SISTER ARE ON WEIGHT WATCHERS. THEY HAVE LOST A TON OF WEIGHT. NO PUN INTENDED. LOL.
MY MOM HAS LOST ABOUT 60 POUNDS ON IT. MY SISTER WHO WAS A SIZE 16-18 IS NOW SELLING HER FAT CLOTHES AND WEARING A SIZE 8 -10. I TOLD HER SHE HAS TURNED INTO A REAL HOTTIE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. GIVE IT A TRY FOLKS. I WAS INFERTILE AND OVER WEIGHT. THEN AT 34 HAD TO GET A HYSTERECTOMY. I ATTRIBUTE ALOT OF MY PROBLEMS TO MY WEIGHT. IT IS SOMETHING I HAVE LITERALLY BATTLED AND FOUGHT WITH MY WHOLE LIFE. I FIRST REALIZED I WAS FAT WHEN I WAS IN 3RD GRADE. IT HAS ESCALULATED SINCE THEN. MY BODY IS OUT OF CONTROL. I WISH I COULD STOP HURTING MYSELF. I TRULY WANT TO BE THINNER. BUT, HAVE DEPRESSION AND NERVE PROBLEMS. WHEN I GET SAD OR WORRIED, I EAT. I HATE IT. BECAUSE AS A FOSTERPARENT WANTING TO DESPERATELY ADOPT MY SON, I AM AN EMOTIONAL WRECK AND ROLLERCOASTER. SO IN THE LAST YEAR, I HAVE GAINED ABOUT 25 POUNDS. IT STINKS. I MEAN TO DO BETTER BUT IT SEEMS TO NEVER HAPPEN. THANKS FOR STARTING THIS THREAD. LOOKING TO SUPPORT AND BE SUPPORTED. TUESDAY CAROLINE |
