Hi, I want to share my story in hopes it will help someone else. I promissed myself if I became pregnant one day, I wouldn't forget about all those who are trying.

My story is I have been with my husband 9 years. I am 30 now. We had been trying to have a baby for the past 5 years, it has been a long road. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17. My periods came every few months it was a mess! I am 5'0 tall and at the time I started trying to concieve I weighed 160 (which is considered obese) I started Clomid for a few months and I did Not become pregnant. Another year we tried an IUI and I still did not become pregnant. I then thought IVF would be the answer to my prayers and after spending $14,000 on IVF I did NOT become pregnant. I was so depressed and my husband had pretty much thought children were not in the cards for us. Doctors had told me to try and lose some weight but it was so difficult and even when I went down to 140 I still wasn't getting regular menstraul cycles. Then one day my mom told me about this thing they do in Europe to get pregnant called the pregnancy band, I never heard of it so I went online and saw that here we call it the lap band. I went online and researched it. I found a doctor in American who charged $9,800 for the full sergury. So I told my husband you know what lets do this surgery and if I don't become pregnant at least I will look good!(It was just a way to make positive of our desperate situation)
I went and had the lap band done and in 8 months I lost 60 pds, (my starting weight at the time was 176). Once I reached 125pds from the surgery I did become pregnant for the first time, I was also taking clomid to speed the process 100mg on my second month. I misscarried shortly after. As sad as I was we were so happy in the fact that I even became pregnant we never thought I could! After the misscarriage that lasted 20 days I wanted to jump right back on to clomid and my doctor told me to wait one cycle, so we did nothing. 4 weeks after the misscarriage I recieved my period I did not do any clomid as the doctor said and then at the end of my cycle no period! I waited till my 35th day and tested positive for pregnancy! I am now 7 weeks pregnant and so far everything is great! My started pregnancy weight is 121pds.
My point is, if you are having a weight issue and IVF is not doing it for you or you need a cheeper route look into the Lap band, it is the best thing I ever did! In 10 months time I have been pregnant twice and in my whole life I was never pregnant once!

Congrats on both the weight loss and the pregnancy! I wonder if you or anyone else knows how obesity affects the man's fertility?
