ever seen the show..obese and pregnant

I am overweight and all test have showed that i'm fine with hormone levels and my FSH is 2..so i should be good to go but i'm not ovulating on my own and my DR says it's because of my adrenal glands and the weight i'm carrying. I'm determined to lose weight but i know tons of women that are over weight or morbidly obese and are preg without any problems...uggghhhh!! i guess everyone is different. the other night I was watching a show called obese and pregnant and it had stories of some women that were well over 200 and 300 lbs that are preg. WTH???

I have never seen the show, but I am definitely understand the frustration. I have been told over and over, lose weight and you will probably get pg right away...then I hear about something like the obese and pregnant show and I just want to !

Thanks!! I haven't heard of it, but I will definitely check it out! I too am willing to do what I need to do to get pregnant! I have found taking all these drugs has made it hard to make good eating decisions. I think since I will back to work next week (I'm a teacher) it will be easier. Less time to snack on unhealthy snacks!

I have not seen the show, but I know how much I worry that my weight is the biggest factor in why I'm not conceiving. I will check out the book as well. I've been trying to eat healthier since I started seeing a fertility acupuncturist. I believe our diets and stress affect all of that.

I'm really new to the forum and not sure what I'm doing yet. Would like to form friendships with women that understand what I'm going through right now. It's so somedays!!

i'm very overweight. i went to four RE's before getting my bfp, and not one of them told me my weight was the problem. i always ovulated like clockwork, but yes, everyone is different. i have heard that weight can affect ovulation. my problem is my egg quality, but it has nothing to do with my weight.

it's extremely frustrating, but i actually take heart when i see big ladies pregnant. it shows me that it happens all the time!

best of luck, ladies. it is definitely possible, although i know at times it certainly doesn't feel that way. it's so hard to lose the weight with the meds and stress as well. i gained 30 pounds in the whole process over 3 yrs., but actually lost 15 after i got pregnant! go figure.

I have always ovulated regularly so I am not sure what is up with my unexplained IF...it is quite annoying!

TTBpatient-the forums are really a great place to form friendships since we all know what it is like to go through all of this!

I have ovulated regularly as well my whole life. And I've always been like clockwork every 30-31 days. Some months are under 30, some are over 31, but not very often.

For those on clomid or older, have you noticed any differences with CM at ovulation? The last I took clomid was in Feb 2009 and I've noticed this year my CM has been less and less. Is that from taking clomid? Or perhaps just because I'm getting older? It worries me because CM was never a problem for me. Or perhaps I had too much all those years?

It's hard not to wonder about everything after going through these procedures and if this is a reason for that, or that is a reason for this ....

I think it is the clomid...I used to have a lot of cm around ovulation and now I barely notice it at all...I can't wait to be done with clomid!

Hi ladies,

I am also overweight and TTC. I lost 40 lbs last year and my hubby decided he wasn't ready to start IUI's. Of course I became a depressed basket case. Gained all 40 back and then some. We're both back on track and trying again.

I often get very frustrated at how easy it is for people who don't even want it! Ugh....

Good luck to you all Hope we all get 's soon!!

Ladybuglee...u give me hope =)

I haven't been regular for a couple of years now and i feel that my fear of being told i'm too big kept me from going to the DR. Finally I sucked it up and went ..at first my weight was not even mentioned. Did all the blood tests and tried provera to bring on my cycle to see if it just needed a kick start...but when the next month it didn't come...i went back..then he decided clomid was the answer...i guess that didn't work cause i didn't get preg nor get a period...so i found another Dr and now i'm going for a HSG...anyone have one?? I work at a hospial and see women come in for it everyday, thought it was a piece of cake...but now that i am going for it..i hear the stories lol...yikes!!

it's funny, but neither my ob or perinatologist have said anything about my weight, either. kinda weird. being pregnant and overweight has lots of risks, but if you take care of yourself before and during pregnancy, i really think it's not bad. i have stayed away from the sites talking about all the dangers you face when overweight and ttc/pregnant. with all the stress of getting pregnant, why add to it? we should know what to be careful of and how to deal with it, but there's a limit. for me, having diabetes and a twin pregnancy is scary enough!

stay positive that it WILL happen for you, ladies. even when i was desperately disheartened (most of the time), i knew in the back of my mind dh and i would be parents somehow. be informed, but don't obsess about your weight too much. you are most likely being healthy while ttc, and that's what's important.

I too am overweight and my RE said weight is not an issue in my inability to get pregnant. Sugar levels and PCOS are signs that your weight is an issue. I have a coworker who is in a PCOS study and after loosing weight, her cyst have been fewer and she is finally ovulating on her own. Since my sugar levels are fine, my nonovulating issue is not weight related.

The support on this board is wonderful. I think I would crash and burn without it. It is so nice to share with others who know and understand what we are going through.

Here is to and !

thank you! no, never took clomid. we did 5 iui's (well 10 technically; they were back to back), 4 ivf's (2 were converted to iui's at the very end) and got our bfp with a donor egg ivf cycle. it was a long, crazy ride. we put two perfect blasts back with the donor egg ivf and they both felt like sticking around in there!

i was always so scared that my weight would prevent even good eggs/embryos from implanting. even after we figured out it was my bad eggs that were the problem, i was scared my belly was too fat to be pregnant. but your uterus has nothing to do with your fat! lol

it's definitely possible to be overweight and get pg with clomid or iui's. ivf isn't the only way, and i'm praying that all of us get our bfp very, very soon.
