OPK Question

I guess I'm getting more serious about this because my first OPK the other day and started testing today.

My question is do I really have to not urinate for 4 hours!!! and restrict my liquids? And test as late in the day as possible?

Good grief, I don't think I can do that. I workout every day and run most days of the week and I drink truck loads of water throughout the day.

How do I combine the two??

I guess treating it like a pregnancy test and testing first thing in the AM is probably not the wisest move, but likely the only way I can meet the 4 hour rule.

Suggestions? Input?

And, obviously I know the test line needs to be as dark as or darker than the control line, but does a faint line mean anything? like ovulation is coming soon or something? goodness, that sounds like a movie trailer! *laugh*

I normally use them with the first morning urine and they work for me that way. There was one day when I took it in the afternoon....but had not followed the no peeing and no drinking rule....and it also worked that time. So I would not worry too much!

I have similar questions about OPKs. I've been using the test sticks (like you get on babyhopes) . I got all BFNs (couldn't even see on the stick where the + line would appear) then one day got a faint line where the + should be. Never got a definite BFP. What does this mean? Anything? I've been testing consistently - late morning, not first urine, etc.

Trying to determine if the metformin is enough to induce ovulation or if I need to move on to Clomid.

Any help would be appreciated.

Digital OPK's are the way to go! It totally takes the guessing out b/c you either get a smiley face or a circle. They are more expensive but SO worth it.

As far as the time of day to test and "holding it" for 4 hours?? I drink TONS of water so there is no way I can not pee for 4 hours. I can barely go an hour. I tested Saturday afternoon and it was +. NOt sure how long it had been since I had gone to the bathroom but it sure wasn't 4 hours.

Good luck!
