I'm new here...and my husband and I started TALKING about trying last June. I have never been regular and I've just always had a very bad feeling that something was wrong...can't explain it, but I knew something was up. My OB/Gyn recommended I start BBT charts for a few months. Those confirmed no OV. Then he put me on Femara for two cycles. Progesterone level tests revealed again-no OV. Again after the first cycle of Clomid-no OV.

My problem is that I just don't know WHY I don't ovulate. I have Hypothyroidism, but every blood test indicates it's well managed and my doc doesn't think that's it. I don't have PCOS or diabetes.

Does anyone know other reasons why this might be happening? Everytime I ask my doc what I can do, he basically answers that the most important thing is to get me ovulating (duh). It seems he ruled out the most dangerous reasons for lack of ovulation and is no longer worried about the problem, only the solution.

I am scared and confused and sort of angry. It took my best friend ONE cycle to get pregnant and some of my family members make really unhelpful comments like "you're not getting any younger." And I don't think my husband gets it at all. He basically responds to my freakouts about this with a very sweet, we'll-figure-this-out-hon kind of answer, but no one is telling him his junk doesn't work

I am so glad for this site because I know when I write this, people will read it and understand.

Anyone have any ideas or advice on my next steps? Where can I find more information on WHY this is happening to me? I am just so scared and feel helpless just taking some pills and waiting until bloodtest day.

My suggestion to you is to get a specialist. My OB/GYN also put me on clomid for 6 months and I didn't ovulate. When you go to a specialist you have access to better monitoring. I still don't know why I didn't ovulate but I do know that my RE did everything he could working with me to try and get me pregnant.

I would definitely switch to an RE. It sounds like your OB has done as much as he can. Have you had any testing to rule out PCOS? Some women can have it with almost none of the symptoms except the reproducitve-related ones (ie: no ovulation).

lynniegc - you write alot about all the tests you have had but has your dh had any eg: SA? I would really suggest going to a RE to get more comprehensive testing done. It might be a combination of both of you & not just you not ovulating! The RE's can recommend more tests and meds etc. for you as well. Good luck.
