Clomid and Not Ovulating
Hello, this is my first thread ever! I am 30 years old and TTC for over a year. I have used OPKs in the past and had a positive reading every month. Started Clomid last month, 100mg for 5 nights. Didn't ovulate and again did Clomid this month, haven't ovulated. I am on cycle day 14 today. I have to go in for Ultrasounds and bloodwork Tuesday if I dont get a positive ov test tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this with Clomid????
Thank you! Rachel ![]() |

Thank you...I am waiting for the Nurse to call me back. I think they are telling me to test on the wrong dates!! My cycle was 35 days and I looked online and it said my most fertile days would be Aug 8-13 and the nurse had me test July 31-today!! Thats 1-2 weeks early, so discouraging! Did you have to go in for ultrasound and bloodwork while on the Clomid when you didn't ovulate??

The ultrasounds and bloodwork is how they knew I wasn't ovulating. My RE never told me to use OPKs and I'm ever so grateful. My insurance covered all the monitoring at 100% so it was actually cheaper for me to do that than to buy OPKs. When I had no response to the Clomid that cycle, they followed it with Femara (same cycle) and still no response. I guess my ovaries were just on strike that month or something
The cycles before and after, I had good response so it must have just been a fluke or something. I hope you get some answers from your nurse. Maybe you could talk to them about switching from OPKs to ultrasounds if your insurance will cover it. It's so much more conclusive.

I had the bloodwork and u/s done today. The tech said I had 2 good follicles on the right, one being 3.7 in size, which she said might be too big and the other 2.7, do you know what that means at all?? My Dr. and the nurse have not been informative at all. They will call me this afternoon with the results and what to do for the next step. I do not know if my insurance would cover daily u/s's, plus the hospital is about 45 mins away so it is not too practical.

3.7 and 2.7 mm or cm? I'm assuming cm if the 3.7 might be too big. Mine were always measured in mm and were around 20-ish. 3.7 and 2.7cm are quite a good size. Sounds like you should be triggering soon! Good luck!
I didn't have daily ultrasounds, just one at my CD 3 appointment and one at my mid-cycle check.. usually between CD 14 and 16. That sounds pretty much like what you're getting. When you mentioned using the OPKs I just assumed that was all you were doing.

This was my very first check as far as blood work or ultraounds while on Clomid. She didn't say if it was cm or mm, but like you said if she thought one may too large it must be cm. How many follicles does a woman usually have and why would it be too "late" why would it get so big? Have a good afternoon, and thanks for helping me out!!! What is BFN? Big Fat Neg and Pos?
