I have the same thing. It is normal for some people to feel themselves ovulating. For me it's gotten more pronounced since i've been ttc. Probably b/c i'm getting very observant of what my body is doing!

I, too, get a pain in my side once-a-month. Mine is far worse on the right side than the left side (and I don't always feel it on the left). Once I started tracking symptoms, though, I found that it came during ovulation AND came back during a period. Weird, I know. I guess most of us are "abnormally normal", with different "issues" that turn out to be no big deal at all.

11/05/08- Lap surgery for Endo. Dr lasered what he could, but req'd 6 mo's of hormone therapy.
12/30/08 to 5/12/09- monthly Depo-Lupron shots
6/17/09- told to continue charting all body changes and temps daily +OPKs; "wait and see" if I ovulate on my own.
10/20/09- (day 21 of ANOTHER unsuccessful natural cycle) told to STOP charting everything, but continue timing sex; blood test for hormones.
10/26/09- Call from Dr.-blood test showed suddenly not ovulating; told to come back on day 21 of next cycle for another blood test to make sure not ovulating.
ONE YEAR since surgery! Y are we still just WAITING 4 s**t to happen? Where's the Clomid he promised me? Y have they still not tested my husband?

Site with lots of info on ovulation pain

Apparently it's completely normal. This page talks all about ovulation pain and what to expect.

What you are experiencing is likely 'Mittelschmerz'. Mittelschmerz is German for "middle" and "pain." It is also known as ‘ovulation pain’ or midycle pain’. It is a one-sided lower abdominal pain, but can switch to the other side the next month...

I only get this on Clomid. First time was the feeling in my right ovary, this cycle it was my left. I know it's normal but I wonder if that means I never O'd on my own because I never experienced any of these feelings without Clomid. Yet my periods have always been pretty regular.. Hmm. Anyway its normal and actually a good sign, means your ovaries are workin!

Just a quick update/comment/issue (which is slightly off-subject, but has to do with "assumed" ovulatory pain as well)
... since coming off of my hormone therapy 2 months ago, I still have not had a period. In trying to see if I am even ovulating again yet, I have been using an OPK every day for the last month.
The other night, I was actually woken up by a severe recurring pain in my right side (almost a "popping" feeling, as if something had been yanked out of place), which was accompanied by a dull pain across my entire abdomen. I had never felt anything like it, it even continued to hurt (with a "bruised" sensation)throughout the next day, and whenever I walked on my right leg, it felt like it was stretching and pulling a muscle downward from my pelvis through my hip.
-----BUT-----
when I did my OPK for that morning, I FINALLY got a positive LH surge (even though my body hadn't shown any of the physical signs of ovulation).
-----SO-----
my best guess is that what I may have felt was my egg literally bursting out of its follicle. A book I read described it and it seemed to make sense to me. So, I did what any other hopefully-ovulating girl would do... I demanded a "nooner" when my husband came home for lunch at 11:00! ...we'll see if everything works out! It has only been three days, but I have had high temps since the following day (which almost proves ovulation for sure). Now, if I have 18 high temps in a row, it's time to take a pg test.
...Hoping for a in two weeks!

I too have felt the 'pop'. I was in the middle of an IUI cycle and called the RE the next day. He said 'that's what it feels like to ovulate'. wow. I've never felt that before (and haven't since).

Hope you get your BFP!!!!

I feel ovualtion pain to its a pain that lasts a few seconds on either your left or lower right side.
Sometimes you can have it on both sides in 1 cycle i had it this month. Onec you get use to knowing what the pain feels like you can then pin point ovulation its good to be intact with your own body
