Hope I'm in the right place...

Hello all. I'm hoping there is someone here that can shed some light on my situation...or at the very least give me an idea of what to ask a doctor! My husband (34) and I (28) are TCC and have been "officially" trying for the last couple months. Sadly, nothing has come of this just yet.

For the last 10 years (roughly) I have been spotting brownish blood about a week before AF. My AF is nearly always 28 days on the button. Occasionally, I'll feel the ovulation cramps around the day 14 post-AF. My reading indicated that pre-bleeding could be a sign of low progesterone and, at the suggestion of my pharmacist, I picked up progesterone cream and have been applying it 2x per day (stopping 2 days pre-AF and re-starting 10 days post-AF).

This past round, I started to use OPKs and received a very light positive on day 15 and 16 post-AF. I do mean light positive - it was no where near the intensity of the control line. Day 17 I had very severe cramping in my lower right abdomen that lasted about 6 hours and did result in odd bright red liquid-type bleeding for 1-2 days.

I was hoping this was a good sign...but now I'm spotting again (I'm a smidge over a week pre-AF) and I'm having some mild cramping. *cry* I don't know what to do next or what to try.

Thanks for listening, if nothing else.

Hello and welcome.

Given your age and the time you have been trying to conceive your Dr may not want to run any tests so you will have to be instant. S/he should start with the basic blood work, that will let you know if your progesterone is low.

I would be cautious of taking supplements until you know you have a problem.

An addendum

I realize, reading my post now, that it doesn't give the full breadth of my question. My husband and I have been together for 3 years w/out producing children and my ex and I were together for 6 years w/out producing children (and were trying). So cumulatively, 9 years w/out any form of contraception and no children to show for it.

Ok, make sure you tell the DR that. The blood work is the start and you should probably have an HSG scheduled to check your tubes and uterus, a uU/S may be able to be done in your DR’s office first. Your DH needs to have a SA done also.

Good luck!

I've been having the same problem and when i asked my doctor about it he said that it was normal and its not something to worry about. Everytime I have the day 21 progesterone test it comes back really high.
