I have talked to two managers (so far) about going down to part time at work, not in detail but in general wanted them to know I wanted to do it asap. I don't want a big fuss made, I am under too much stress and something has to give and they are the only thing that can give. So, on Monday I will have a meeting with the hr manager and the new store manager(monday is his first day). UGH! I wish they would just put me down to part time and be done with it!

Yeah, we need to start an online company! Maybe infertility support products people can buy their friends (cards, gift baskets, etc) that are going through infertility. Just popped in my head.

I completely understand! The stress of home life on top of working full time can be too much. I recently went part time and I am much more happier (so is everyone in my family). Good Luck on Monday!

I hope everything works out for you, stay ready and think about what you are going to say and just repeat until they give! Sorry about all your stress, I'm sure missing DH is really hard, and now you are also a single parent. Hugs

WOW, we all seem to be in the same boat. I am sooooo stressed with work and Mommy duties. I dont want to quit working all together but would love to ask to be part time at least for a little while but I am afraid that if they say no that then they will be scrutinizing every thing I work on because they will think I cannot handle my work load. I then feel like a bad mom for not being there for my son 100% because on my days off I am running doing errands.

Why must it be so hard for us Moms!!!!

I wish everyone the best with what ever they decide and at least I take comfort in knowing I am not alone in feeling this way!!

Nice to know I'm not alone here. I am not looking forward to tomorrow but hopefully they can get me down to part time without too much trouble. I really hope the new store manager doesn't make too much of it. I hate giving up the jewelry department, I really enjoy it but you have to be able to either open or close so I will have to give it up. Not fun! But, my job is the only thing that can give right now and I am stretched to the max.
Oh, and I don't even go in till 1:30 tomorrow so I won't be able to update you girls till tomorrow night after 10:30 at the earliest.

Hey Kelli...I just wanted to wish you luck today. Being a working Mom can be really stressful. When I came back from Maternity leave I was only working 3 days a week (tues, wed and thur) it was great! I loved the time with Brady. But just a few months ago I had to pick up another Day, Monday's. It sucks..but we need the money. At least I still have my Fridays off!!

Kelli: The online fertility store is a grand idea! I hope you get the hours you want at your job now.

Since I just quit, I decided I only wanted to work 1 weekend per month as an RN...and lo and behold, another nursing home hired me today after a short interview. She is even going to give me the rate of pay I asked for: $20/hr. since I've been a nurse for 16 years (I am SO old) plus an evening shift differential of $.50/hr. Then I put in an online application with Walgreen's to be a part time evening shift pharmacy tech. I assume it is minimum wage, but I feel it would look really good on my resume.

Anyway, let us know what happens...I'm rooting for ya!
