Just keep tweeking it, you will find the right amount.

I had a feeling you would say that you felt bad about giving him cereal at 8 weeks ... well DONT!!!! Your post was not to get others OPINION about giving cereal too early or whatever. You wanted advice on what nipple to use because YOUR DOCTOR told you to add cereal to your formula. I use born free nipples (the 1st phase ones!) with 4 oz. of formula and 2-3 teaspoons of rice cereal (due to reflux!) and have no problems ... Good luck girl!

Thanks Lace and Kris and the rest of you ladies! There are so many times I question my abilities to do this but then I think back and realize I am sure we all wonder if we are doing things right and it is a trial and error thing!
As for my Dr not telling me about the nipples and how much rice to give I have decided I am over that Dr. he can not return calls explain things to me as a 1st time mom or take time for us so I am on the hunt for a new Ped. Dr.
I may not win the mom of the year award but I am doing the best that I can and best I know how and I have decided anyone that thinks other wise can take a flying leap! ( I have had to much coffee today and kind of honery!)
Well baby crying so off to give him a bottle without rice, the next one will have rice! I am switching off every other bottle!

Glad you are getting a new ped. We had to switch recently due to an insurance change. Not fun!!! But the new one isn't bad, just not the same. Hopefully you get a good one!

When I gave my twins rice in their bottle it was early, everyone in my family gave me their opinion too...However, I would just put a fork in the hole of the nipple to stretch it to the size I found to work best. Just be carefull not to use that nipple with just formula because it will pour out.
