Another car seat question

I'm sure this has been asked before but what car seat is everyone using after their infant car seat? I don't want to have to buy another then another so I'm looking for my next one to be the last one I have to buy. I have twins so I have to streatch the dollar when it come to the expensive things. I don't mind paying a lot for a great one so any suggestions would be great!

Britax makes fabulous car seats. Many people on this forum have them and love them, judging by responses I have read in the past to similar posts. I have a Britax Marathon and absolutely no complaints. If you look on the Britax web site, it will tell you the max height and weight for each seat, which is important so you don't have to buy a new car seat every couple years when the babies outgrow them. I believe Britax also gets high reviews from Consumer Reports.

Good luck in your search!

I also have the Britax Marathon and I love it. I had the Britax Roundabout, but my DD outgrew it (height) at 2-1/2yrs old. She fits nicely in the Marathon even at 4yrs old. It goes from 5lbs to 33lbs rearfacing and 20-65lbs forward facing. You should not have to buy another carseat until they need a booster seat at 5 or 6 years old. Good luck!

Britax Marathon!!!

Love it!!!!!

The Britax Car seats normally go on sale for big saving during the last week in February and the week of Labor Day which is right around the corner. If you can wait until then you will save some good dough

I bought our Marathon the lasrt week of February for $205.25 with free shipping via Amazon.com. I will be buying another Marathon come Labor Day week for our 2nd car.

we have the evenflo triumph- it's got as good of or better ratings than britax the last 3 years and is half the price. What decided me is that the new triumph holds upto 50 pounds and 50 inches while britax has a higher weight, it does NOT have a higher height and my children seem to hit height WAY before weight. Also, you may want to try the carseat in your car first- or look at the chart CarSeatData.org - user ratings of carseats fitting into cars. and the triump is HUGE, a bit wider than britax...

we have a sunshine radian for my dd... goes upto higher height & weight than both britax & triumph convertibles but i found it too big to be rearfacing in our subaru (at least too big to be behind the passenger as there was NO room for the passenger once installed)

Cosco Scenera Convertible Car Seat - Daisy Daze

This is the one we got for my car! It is one of the cheaper ones but it will fit her till she is 40 lbs, and right now it is rear facing but I will turn it some time after Caitlin's first birthday. I have been doing research and have found info that keeping her rear facing up to 2 years is safer so we will see! I am currently shopping for a new carseat for dh's crv (I've been driving it a lot since my car really needs new tires).

Graco Passage Travel System - Abbington
This is the one we first got. The carseat with the set is the one I am wanting to replace.

Just wanted to bump this up with some questions of my own.

For any who might be in a smaller vehicle - what did you find worked best for you? I'm in a Mazda 3 and when Dh and I are in the car together Ethan doesn't fit in the middle. He ends up behind my seat and I still have to scoot up. My fear is that the convertible seat in the rear facing position may cause me to move up even more and I fear that is a safety hazard for me. I did go to the site Cat posted and there were only a few carseats that were rated for my vehicle and they are the ones that range $200 and above which I honestly won't have to spare until December.

Believe me, I am trying to keep Ethan in his infant seat as long as possible but at 17 1/2 pounds and 27 inches, he's getting up there!

We have the Evenflo Triumph Advance Premier Convertible Car Seat. We love it and so does Brady. A few weeks ago we finally switched him over from the infant to the regular car seat. He was getting so uncomfortable in the other. It is quite large (very wide) but it is so sturdy and B is sooo cumfy in it and it did get great ratings. We have a Ford Edge which is very roomy so it fits perfect and it was so easy to install. It's definitely something that's going to last him a while.

Oh and the price is pretty good, $179.99, compared to some others.

We have 2 convertible car seats. Hubby has an Eddie Bauer one in his truck. Pro...it goes all the way up to 100lbs. Con...it's pretty big and the straps are a little annoying to mess with.
I have the Evenflo Triumph Advance LX Convertible Car Seat - Hansen in my car and I love it. You adjust the straps with a turn of a knob. Everyone who sees it says how comfy it looks (it has alot of padding). It's not too big for my back seat (Nissan Altima). It's also not as expensive as others but it only goes up to 50lbs.
MY SIL has a Britax Boulevard Convertible Car Seat and I didn't find anything special about it for over $300.00. The safety reviews are just as good on the Evenflo and Eddie Bauer ones for much less.

Jill, that is definitely more in my price range. A good friend of mine has the same car seat and loves it - but she's in a van, so once again more room then I have in my little Mazda.

Anyone else bang their heads on this stuff? I thought the major decisions were done, now I've got a whole different hurdle to jump over. I want excellent quality, safety first, but within a budget and fits in a small car. He'll fit fine if I'm the only one driving or in the car - it's that big and tall husband of mine that poses an issue!

Strap him to the roof like I do when we need more space!! I'm just kidding. Evenflo have excellent reviews and always exceed safety requirements and a truly a great buy for your money. I'm seeing them on Amazon for 90 to 180 and some with free shipping.

If you are talking about my DH, I think he'd crush my car if I strapped him on top! He's a big dude! But we might have to entertain that option if necessary - I mean Ethan comes first!

LMAO! Is Ethan out of the infant car seat already? I remember Tristan outgrew his around 4 months too. We have some big boys.
