Angry irritated with my nanny need to vent

Ok tell me if im over acting or what? So today I had a bad news at work and our pay check got screwed up badly that they cant give me my bonus check til 29th not only me but every one at work rather than complaining i tried calling my bills that are normally been auto-debit on my checking to at least re schedule the payments... and of corse I had to tell my nanny too that i can only pay her $300.00 if possible on the 15th and $300.00 on the 22nd of this August mind you I paid her in August 1st $600.00 in advance for 2weeks.. So here I am begging her if we could possibly arrange the situation since my morgage and all other bills are this 15th and im broke as hell and DH just started a job and training just ended and he is on commision too now my Nanny tells me umm no I can't because I have bills to pay too (understandable) but I asked if she can maybe check if I can pay $300 instead of the $600.00 in advance that I normally pay her (I NEVER BEEN LATE PAYING HER) she said well i will check with my calendar and then she added "if you can't pay me then let me know I can get my old job for $9.00/hr and I only have to work 30 hours a week... Im almost in tears but I just had it this time and told her " "If you think you will be making more money there then I guess I have to let you go" but please let me know 2 weeks ahead of time so I can find something" I mean what the hell She works 4 days a week and maximum 11 hours a day and here I come running like cinderella just to get home in time otherwise I'll hear her saying "Im pooped" ohhh NO I cant stand this stressing she does to me everyday and I come home my babies are crying because the last time she feed them is lunch and I come home at 4pm and although she gave them bottles the food that she feed them are in a small container of food I make their food almost everynight and I sometimes I would see it untouched... I mean this nanny doesnt do anything but purely watch ,feed, and change diapers and watch t.v read books/magazine to her self as she tells me (my house is baby proof big crawling/playing are for them) she doesnt even read books for my kids and no bottle washing or anything like that I told friends at work what happened they told me the same things I heard from here so I found few places to put my kids in the daycare and another friend of mine knows a baby sitter who is her baby sitter too... I have decided to keep her til next month and hopefully will be walking next month. Sorry for the long story just really need to vent badly I feel bad that I had to feel this way because she is a mother of a coworker of mine but tell me please am I just over acting?

You are not over reacting! she should really earn her $$$ - you are paying her quite well and if she thinks that working 30 hours per wk for 9 bucks an hour pays her more - let her go for sure - she will figure out after taxes, she will bring home about 225 a week.

definatley start looking for her replacement - sometimes there is an angel right around the corner!

good luck!

When I babysat back in high school, I had a baby and a toddler that I sat for exclusively. The family offered me to be their nanny for an entire summer while we all traveled all over the US. I turned them down because my mom didn't want me to be gone that long...but anyway, I got paid $2.50/hr. back then and $120 for weekend overnights. Not to brag, but I was a **** good sitter. I cooked, cleaned, played with the kids, made sure they were clean and had had baths and their jammies on by the time the mom got home and half the time, had the entire family's dinner on the table. Tons of other parents wanted me, but like I said I was exclusive to this family. I also ended up mowing their yard for them, trimming and landscaping.

This "nanny" you have sounds to me like a worthless piece of sh*t; I would get rid of her and find someone who truly loves kids and will read to them and get down on the floor and play with them etc. Just my take on it all.

Blessings, Michelle

Hi

UUUHHHHHH!!! No ur not overeacting, my neighbor gets about that much a month but she reads, they learn, they do activities, and everything she buys 4 the house is 4 the kids ie....outdoor swings with the big houses ur nanny is lazy and ur kids need more interaction, i would start interviewing now, sometimes u cant mix business with pleasure, and although I would love 2 have my neighbor babysit, I am scared that it woyld cause issues, she said she can seperate the 2 because she keeps her grandchild as well and his parents do have to pay,, I dont know how much but she said she charges them the same????? So 4 ur peace of mind I would split ties.

I would start to look for someone new. It took us awhile to find a good babysitter, but it was worth it. She comes to our house, gives baths, feeds and plays with the twins. She doesn't do cleaning or bottles, which is fine. I asked her not to watch too much TV. All for only 5$ an hour and she is very greatful!!! And she is CPR certified (She used to work at a daycare) Shes great but starting college this fall. So I found someone else that will clean, do laundry, start supper and take care of twins for $8 an hour. But I have to do an interview first.
You can get afordable, good help, so that everyday you know they are in good hands and the babysitter doesn't give you any more stress. I hope that you can find someone :-)

I don't think you are over reacting either. Like the other girls said, I think I would start looking for another sitter as well for your boys. Finding quality child care is so difficult!

No way are you overreacting. This woman sounds like a very "lazy, take advantage" kind of person and honestly I agree with the girls that it is time for you to look for a new nanny.

It is not worth the stess you are going through with this woman!!!

Hugs!!

I agree with the other ladies, you are not overreacting and good help is hard to find. Fortunately hubby just left his job and will be a full time stay at home dad for a while but if/when he returns to work we found a nice day care by our house. Start looking now cause this lady sounds shady and will just walk out w/o notice. This was one thing I hated about our old sitter...she was always threatening to quit. Who needs the BS.

OMG. I really don't think you want THAT person helping you raise your babies. It sounds like she's not happy working for you ("I can find another job that pays more"), so I think you totally nailed it when you told her "Then I guess I have to let you go."

We've had a nice lady taking care of Harmony in her home (along with about 5 other kids) since she was 6 weeks old. She's great, but she only does Mondays and Tuesdays in the summer, and is closed when the parish (county) schools are closed, and pick up is at 4pm. I commute 60 mi. to and from work, so if DH needs me to pick her up, I have to leave work before 3pm to get there in time. Plus we don't work teacher's schedules. So, we switched to this other woman we used PRN (who also feeds the kids!!!). It sucked having to tell her.

Seems we all get those babysitter issues. I just feel bad that it's hard for you to find someone that suits your needs better.

Let us know what happens!

Angie

nope i dont think your over reacting i use to baby sit every summer from 95-98 for a family out in pa , they new my family and they were from jersey too and ran a chuckie cheese type thing in pa ... and i use to watch those kids (there were 5 of them) from 6am -12 mid(somedays, they had another nanny, but they fired her because when she came over the girls would always cry) i cooked , bathed , played, read and some slight house cleaning and i got payed like 60 dollars a day, and i worked depending on there sced 4-5 a week.... ask around, go to a local school find a good student in early childcare devolpement, you'll find the perfect nanny that loves your children like you do

Definitely sounds like you need yourself a new nanny regardless of the $$ issue. She doesn't sound like she does a very good job and you would probably be a lot less stressed and worried if you didn't come home to screaming kids. Good luck........you'll find someone you love I'm sure!

Honestly, I would let her go. It seems like your babies will get more attention in a daycare (Caitlin LOVES her daycare).
