Feeding two babies is hard! Even if you just give them bottles and don't do any breastfeeding or pumping it is difficult to feed two babies in the timely fashion that they want if it is just one person feeding them. I have started feeding my boy first because I was feeding the girl first and she would scream afterward whereas he eats and settles and then I can feed her. I am going back to work on November 3rd and it scares me to death. I don't want to put them in daycare, I don't want to leave them, I don't think I can function in a work environment with the amount of sleep I get, and I don't want to miss anything and feel like now I will just be home for fussy time and bedtime instead of the cute fun time when they are awake and looking around and soon will be laughing and smiling and playing. Not working, however, is not an option for me. My mom was here for three weeks and it was a godsend, that is part of the reason we had to get on a feeding schedule that we don't vary because we don't have help now.

yeah mom being around is so much help. I am wondering what will happen when she leaves.
Yeah working in Nov scares the hell out of me but not working is also not an option for me. Not even sure where to even look for a nanny or day care. Dont want to leave little babies in day care and nanny am not sure where to find her. Any suggestions?

have either of you considered an au pair? they would live in your house, but are very well affordable.
the only way i am able to stay home right now is by living on our savings which will last us over 6 mths and still leave us with half of what we had........i think this will only last the 6 months and i will be back off to work again. me being an accountant.....i know how to completely live on a budget, NO deviations for us. we also have our parents who have said they will help us, my mom is paying for my life insurance policy and buying $200 a month in formula for us....DH's parents are waiting for us to decide what additional help we need, I am thinking once the diapers get low, we will ask them to buy the diapers and wipes for us for a little bit. |

Ok ladies...today was a tough day. We started the day out with Madison projectile vomiting while she was in her bouncie seat. The vomit flew up in the air and then came back down. Half of it covering her face and half of it drenching her sleeper. Likely I was sitting right there and was able to clean it up quickly. She did not cry at all while I wiped her face off, undressed her, washed her down, diapered her and dressed her. I was then able to get her to sleep but if I put her down she woke up so I laid on the couch and she slept on my chest for 2 hours. When she woke up I fed her a bottle and the she cried on and off for 1 1/2 hours. I would get her to sleep and then put her down and she would wake up. I gave her 1 oz of milk and she calmed down for a little while and then started crying again. I changed her diaper..she had a big poopy mess (her first bowel movement of the day 3:00 PM) this is not normal. At this point I was beyond frustration so I put her in her swing and took a breather and went to the bathroom. I heated another oz up and fed it to her. She went to sleep!!!!! At this point I realized that she had pooped in her diaper and it had come out her diaper up her side and through her sleeper. So I change her, wash her down and of course now she is awake and crying again. I needed air so I swaddled her and took a walk outside down to the mailboz singing to her the entire time. By the time I got back to the house she was asleep! (and is still sleeping!!!) Now I have a bouncer, a swing, a vomit sleeper and a poopy sleeper to clean. Oh I cannot wait for DH to come home!!!!!!

Katrina, my son started projectile vomiting around 3 weeks due to reflux. It was such a wild awakening for me. He would throw up if in his swing or his bouncey. I had to hold him for an extra 20 minutes (upright) after a feeding, make sure he burped, incline his mattress so that he could sleep more comfortably, etc. Might be something to watch out for. If this is the first time it's happened that is. The other thing was that I had to try and not feed him as much to determine if his belly was getting too full. Hopefully it was just for today and tomorrow things get back to normal for you.

Jen ,
This is the first time that it happened. The other bottles that I have fed her today she has not spit up at all. So I am wondering if her belly is just bothering considering she vomited but then her bowel movements have not been normal today either. I will keep acid reflux in the back of my mind especially if it happens again! |

Hello September mamas!!! Hard to believe we are here on this side of things!!! Well Jackson is 4 days old today and we survived our first night at home, of course I woke up almost every hour and had to check and make sure he was still breathing and warm enough! The worry never ends! But Katrina I had my first projectile vomiting experience last night at like midnight...it was sooo not fun so Im glad to hear madison is feeling better.
I had a question about bowel movements, has anyone noticed their babies passing green stool? Jackson had one really green poop last night and then today he had one that was half normal half green....just found it odd. Oh and is anyone else strictly pumping because I am not sure how often I should be doing it? I have been trying to do it every 4 to 5 hours and getting around 5-6 ounces each time but dont know if I should do it more or less or what? And the middle of the night pumping did not happen last night so I guess I better get going on that or my milk might dry up! I am just so flippin excited to be here with you all, we made it!!!!

Sarah- It is normal for the poop to be green. If you are breastfeeding the poop will change yellow. I think Madison's poop changed totally yellow by day 8-9.
As for the pumping...I am solely pumping and was told my the lactation consultant that I should pump every 2-3 hours. When I pump after 3 hours I get 4 oz..If I wait 4 hours I get 5 oz and 5 hours I get 6 oz. I was told that as long as you pump once through the night you will be fine. So I do not pump through the night at every feeding...I just pick one. |

How is everyone today??
I am glad Madison is feeling better. Sarah - I was told to pump every 2-3 hours as well, only I am getting about 1/2 oz every 2-3 hours now. i think my hormones are out of wack....I also go AF on monday. |
