Infant chiropractic adjustments

Has anyone else had their newborn to the chiropractor?

We took Aedyn today, primarily because her birth was quite traumtic in that the c-section had the nurse pushing her little head back up through the birth canal and the resident was pulling on her legs to get her out. We wanted to ensure there was not any major issues done in the streatching of her spine in this manner.

She has been quite fussy after her feedings, not in a manner of colic since her fussiness doesnt last for hours, just about a half an hour and then after she is able to pass gas, all is good.

Well today, our wonderful Gonstead Chiropractor did her adjustment and in that first half hour, she let out some serious gas without the fussiness and crying.

And thus far, has not had any gas issues --- she let one good toot out right after she ate but had no fussiness or crying.

I did find some great articles on chiropractic care and colic babies.

She actually was so wonderful after the appt, DH and I had lunch out, went to the grocery store, and stopped by BRU. we spent a whole 5 hours out of the house with her!!!! And she was wonderful!

PS - we got a new carseat too, as the Eddie Bauer was pushing into her little lets at the bottom latch and she was never happy to get in that seat (yes, we only used it 6/7 times) but her new seat, she doesnt even get mad getting into!!!

Our chiropractor also said that infant adjustments could also decrease ear infections as well.

I googled the ear infections, colic, and SIDS - and found several articles.

I know for DH and I chiropractic care for us is wonderful.

We switched her supplemental formula to the Similac Soy - so we'll see if that aids in her decreased fussiness also after her meals.

The chiropractor suggested supplementing with Goats' milk, but I am not too sure about that yet. I need to do more research and talk with the peditrician.

We take Ethan to a chiropractor. He started at about 8 weeks and goes once a month. It's wonderful! It's amazing the things that an adjustment can help with. Ear infections, bed wetting, fussiness, etc.

Christine, my pediatrician was very adament (sp?) about not using goats milk. She said that formula was really the best choice because of all the vitamins in it. Soy formula finally worked for us so maybe it will work for you!

Laura, thanks for the info. I will ask my chiropractor if they are a carrier for the new insurance and if they do pediatric chiropractic care!

Tomorrow is adjustment number 2 - she started getting a bit fussy just over the last few hours, i hope this help her pass that horrible gas again.

Jen - how does Ethan's adjustment work for him? I was a little concerned taking her at just 3 wks of age, but it was like a little miracle that pushed a half hour of gas out.

a couple of people i work with were a little freaked out that a chiropractor would give an infant an adjustment.........until i explained the process.

Again....Ethan is just soo cute!!!!

My sister is a chiropractor who specializes in whole familiy care including pediatrics. She adjusts her son (4 months old) every few days and he has been in great health so far! We definately plan to have our baby adjusted regularly too! I have lots of friends who do the same.

The occupational therapist that we use for Trey on improving his suck swallow also does therapy to relieve his tension areas.

We went last Thursday and I swear that he slept for 5 hrs straight after it.

I was skeptical about this at first but am totally won over now. Since his suck swallow has improved significantly, the therapist doesn't think he needs to go again but we will stay in contact with her.

At this point I am totally sold too!

She is so good, and we are so blessed.

Since I am not able to give her the amount of breast milk she needs, I need to find other non envasive ways to ensure her health and well being.

CLA - do you have any recent pics of Trey?

Candice - do you plan on taking the baby to your sister....is she near you?

I definately plan to take the baby to my sister! She is about 45 minutes from our house but we see them every weekend so that will be a permanent piece of our schedule. Not just for the baby's benefit of course, but ours too. Babies need healthy moms and dads!

Candice - DH and I get adjusted at least once every other week also. It is great that as a family we can take in the same practice and remain healthy.

I really believe that with her regular adjustments that she will be a healthy and happy baby even if I cant give her that much breast milk.

I wish there was an adjustment that could turn these breasts into fountains
