not sure about # 1 and 2 but onsies you will go through especially if you breast feed those poops can be real watery. When I worked an infant room we called them blow outs. They would run right out of the diapers Plus spit up and other thingsCathy

1. Boppy newborn lounger (not the boppy pillow, but the lounger) I only used the Boppy pillow and honestly that was enough for me.
2. Boppy Tummy Play mat (seems like I could just put a blanket down w/ the boppy and some toys and accomplish the same thing. I also registered for this and returned it since just putting him on the floor on a blankie with toys was enough. 3. newborn clothes: how many onesies do i REALLY need? Hmmm this one can be up for debate. My son never spit up or had messy diapers so usually what ever onesie I put him in the morning was what he had on all day. It was very rare when I had to change his clothes. I had more onesie then I really needed for the 1st 3 months. I think I could have gotten away with just having 7-10. So basically it would depend on how your Baby is as far as spit up, etc. I did breastfeed but formula fed as well.

i can't answer for 1 and 2 because i just used a boppy pillow and a blanket on the floor... but you will go through a lot of onesies. i told tia this too - stock up on spray & wash because you'll use it!
i'm not sure what the lounger is and whether you've also got a bouncy seat? simon has used his bouncy seat a lot in his first four months and really likes it. so i'd say make sure you've at least got one of those, which from the sounds of it you probably do.

Hi Amy - My advice to you is to use what you need but leave all the tags, etc. on. You will see that they grow out of the newborn stage so quickly & that you will spend so much money on diapers, formula (if not BF) & regular food once they start eating solids which is by 4 mos.!. I wish I had not opened so many packages of blankets, onsies & sleepers. I wouldn't wash them yet either in case you want to return for at least store credit if you don't have the receipt. I don't know if you got alot of the receiving blankets but unless they are a little larger & stretchie, they only fit them for a very short time.
One of best things I bought was a Halo Blanket sleeper for the winter. I always knew he was warm enough & it's not restricting & you don't have to worry about a blanket. Hope this helps. I am so excited for you & your pictures look great. You are the cutest pregnant person I have ever seen. Good luck. ![]()

Lounger....no. Tummy mat...no.
Newborn onesies/outfits...not all of them. Tristan only had a few accidents so truth be told we only used a few of the many newborn size things we had. I made the mistake of washing all of them so I couldn't return them. He grew pretty quickly so he outgrew sizes quickly. Also we had some favorite outfits so if we knew we were going out we always made sure we washed those specific outfits to have ready. Keep the tags and recipets so you can return them if you find lily hasn't worn them but won't fit them.

Hi Chica!!!
Hooray for baby stuff, although it certainly does seem to take over your house, doesn't it? Ok, numbers 1 & 2 - never heard of them, so think you can do without and just do the blanket/Boppy pilow on the floor combo thing. Worked for LP! #3 is up for debate - depneds on how often you will have to change Miss Lily. I'm with the ladies who did not take everything out of their original packages and didn't wash everything immediately. Keep you receipts and return as needed. BabiesRUs was good about me returning stuff without receipts as long as it was on my registry. I exchanged onesies for bigger sizes as the need arose, and even returned things I had changed my mind on, like the wipes warmer and such. Are there shower pics floating around somewhere??? xoxo

I think one and two you could go without.
I have a crazy amount of onesies and found that they are outgrowing them before I can use them all. I am with mazariee I rarely have and diaper leakage and both my babies have only ever spit up twice. saving them in the packages and returning them if you don't use them sounds like a good idea to me I am so excited for you!! Truthfully I LOVED seeing all the babies stuff all over.....made me smile!! ![]()

I had a party for our foster/adopt child. People brought a few gift and the best was that they would buy things in diff sizes. When our daughter when back into the system she left w/ enough clothes for her first year in life. The tummy mat--I love it. Ours is in the storage closet, but think I will register for a new one Boppy lounger--I see it at BJ's and one person put their child in it. Another woman she was w/ said her son loved it and would cry in the bouncy chair. I guess you could wait and see what happens. If baby hates it and it is not stained or anything then take it back. If it is stained or used and they stop liking it, here we have a store where parents can sell used toys and stuff. Quick q--pls don't think me rude-- How did you get three showers? Were they for specific people? Iam thinking about it b/c I would like to travel home to TX and be w/ my mom and some of my friends from there, but really only have one or two people I know well there and the rest are her friends from work and stuff.

thanks for all of the good advice!
tamtam~ my 1st shower was given to me by my 5 closests friends (from highschool and college) it was a small shower, 15 girls. very intimate and fun. my 2nd shower was all of my mom's long time friends and my aunts. my mom is very social and has a group of "church friends", "work friends" and then just her girlfriends from over the years. i've known them all since i was little, so they wanted to throw a shower for me. the one last night was a couple's shower. it was chris' friends and their wives, his family (huge) and some of his co-workers. it was given to me by my 3 SIL's and 2 wives of his friends. i actually have a 4th shower as well (i know, it's crazy) given to me by the girls that i teach with. i know it sounds like A LOT...but i couldn't tell these people no, they all insisted on throwing a shower. just make sure that you don't invite someone to more than one shower. maybe in houston, since there will only be a few of you, you could do more like a lunch/brunch somewhere.

Amy - I am only about two weeks in with these two at home but I will tell you that Katie hates her bouncer seat and we have the boppy playmat and have put her down on that and she likes it a lot better!
Since ours are preemies and we didn't have many preemie onesies we have not used many. Plus, because they are on the smaller side warmth is an issue and we were told to not swaddle them in the day to try to make them understand the difference in day and night and their little legs seem cold in onesies and pants to go over them swallow them right now so they have been in gowns and sleepers most of the time. They usually go through only two outfits or so a day because we keep bibs on them right after eating and they don't really get much on them - if they have blow-outs or pee leakage then they get changed but that happens at night usually and we just put them in another gown. My dh loves the boppy lounger to feed them in the middle of the night because it gets difficult to hold them out (like they need to be or they go to sleep) in the middle of the night! Those are my inexperienced opinions!

SHOWER PICTURES!!
Have no idea what a lounger is but LOVE our tummy mat and since it was given to us by a good friend who is a pediatrian in hometown, I assumed it must be a must-have; will use it again. Agree on all clothes answers, C had a TON, I washed it all and voila, she was in preemie until the seasons changed but I used a lot more than I thought I would, and god help you if she's a spitter like C b/c then they change oh, 14 times a day. And FYI: just about the time they outgrow having to change so much from food/bottles/poops etc., here's the news, she's still going to be a girl and you'll need (and I mean NEED) just as many clothes and probably change her even more than you did before. ![]()

Amy, I had three showers too and got so much stuff. I can say that Ethan only wore a handful of his newborn clothes. Even size 0-3 months he didn't get through all of his outfits. I say definitely keep the tags on them. Maybe pick a few here or there but keep the tags on the rest so that should Lily grow out of them you can hopefully take them in for exchange. As for the boppy play mat I hear that they are great for tummy time, better then just floor time. However, we never got one (money is tight). The lounger, I don't know anything about, I've never heard of it.

I would say keep #1 and #2; they are not necessities, but I think you will use them if you have them. As for newborn clothes...I would pick out the cute ones and return the others. I rarely ever put onsies on Wyatt, and he was a newborn during the winter. I know that it doesn't get that cold in Houston during the winter, so you will not likely need too many. Wyatt never wore the "newborn" size, and only wore 0-3 months for about 3 weeks. Do you know an estimate of how big your little girl is right now?
