Question Travel swing vs. full sized

We've been waiting for a friend to give us their baby swing that they no longer need. It's been months since they promised it to us and DH has told me to go ahead and just buy one since we are less than 2 months away from our due date. I've heard really good things about the FP Rainforest swing. I'm wondering if there is any big difference between a travel swing vs. a full sized swing. We don't have a lot of room for baby gear that is going to leave a giant footprint. Any suggestions?

This probably doesn't help you a ton, but my friends recommended I buy both a travel and full-sized version. i'm sure just the travel would be fine though if you are space deprived.

Keep an eye on Kohls. They had their Fisher Price stuff 50% off a couple of weeks ago and I got my FP swing for about $60. Maybe it will happen again?

Neither of my boys really loved the swing, but some people really swear by them. We had a full size one with out first son, but got the boppy travel swing for Alex. They both pretty much did the same thing, but the travel wing took up a lot less room & I would have been able to take to my mom's when she watched Alex...if he had like it that is.

I'm kicking myself for not getting FP swing from Kohl's. By the time I had decided to buy one they were out of stock!

I wish, wish, wish, we would have gotten the travel swing instead. So portable and easy to store. Now Ry is growing out of his full sized one and I don't know what we'll do without it.

My daughter loves the FP Rainforest travel swing now. She didn't use it the first two months of her life though.

I would go with the travel swing if your worried about space issues. I had the travel and the full sized swing. The full sized swing sat in my laundry room unused while the travel one went every where.

One thing worth also mentioning is that some of the full sized swings plug in like the FP Rainforest, which will save a ton of money on batteries.

That is what I'm thinking. Maybe spend the extra money up front and not spend a ton on batteries later. That Rainforest swing is just so dang huge!

I got both. What I liked about the full size swing...It had 2 ways to swing, back and forth and side to side. When Tristan was smaller we liked the side to side motion better.
We lived in a small apt. when he was first born so we used the travel swing one since we had that one already (we had our second shower when Tristan was almost a month old and that's when we got the full size one). We left the travel one with my G-ma since she baby sat once in a while. I recommend getting one that plugs in or buy stocks in duracell/energizer cause swings (especially if your LO loves it) eats alot of batteries.

We have both and love them, especially if you travel. My DS LOVES the FP Rainforest Swing; I could not live without it! My DS, at almost 25 pounds and 1 year old, still sits in it every morning...I will be so sad when we have to get rid of it.

If you can only get one, I say get the Rainforest Swing!

Go with the travel, we got a full sized, its a FP really nice but now that she's outgrown it we don't know what to do with it, and it was such a pain to put together I hate the thought of unscrewing everything to take it apart to store

I have to vote for the travel swing too! We have both. We started with the papasan swing and it is gigantic. We wound up buying the travel swing for trips and grandma's since Aiden would nap in the swing. The FP travel swing is just as good and we rarely had to change the batteries. I am giving the papasan swing to my SIL just to get it the hell out of my house! It is gigantic!!

I just saw one of those car seat swings the other day and was wondering the same thing. I'm still torn about what kind of swing to buy. The more baby stuff I buy, the less room I have for something like a giant swing. Plus, I hate to spend all that money on something she may not even like.
