I'm not sure how to stretch it during the day, but at night we swaddle our twins in these blankets that are called "Swaddle Me" by Kiddapatumus ( I think, but not sure on the spelling). When we use them at night, they tend to sleep for 4 hour stretches (knock on wood). Last night we even got a 5 hour stretch, but during the day they typically want to eat every 2 hours.

A few questions
Ok,just want to check in and see how we compare.
1.For those of you breastfeeding or pumping, has anyone had one or both of their breasts itching? My left breast is so itchy. This is the side that has more milk and unfortunately is obvious that it is bigger 2.My ped said to wake the girls if they haven't woken up after 4 hours to feed. They are so good at letting me know when they are hungry, when can I just let them sleep? 3.Has anyone thought about sexual relations? Are you all going to wait?Is anyone going to be put on any type of contraceptive. It was so hard for us to get pregnant but we only want 2 and are so blessed to have the 2.I did not get my tubes tied for the fear I may change my mind.I am thinking about the mini-pill because I have heard horror stories about Mirena.Any thoughts?

Oh,has anyone taken their LO out?Ped said to wait 2 months, which I think is ridiculous.Babies need to be exposed to some germs to build the immune system right?Plus I was on bed rest for 4 months an am going out of my mind.I know they were little but are very healthy.I wouldn't let anyone touch them. What are your thoughts and what have you done?

1. I haven't had any problems with itching.
2. We have been just letting our twins sleep. Now, I'm starting to wonder if that's not okay. I hate waking them to eat because when we do, they hardly eat at all and go back to sleep. Then they just end up waking up an hour or so later still hungry. My twins though, I think, may be a little bit bigger than yours. 3. Sexual relations?....what's that???? Seriously, though, I'm pretty sure we'll be waiting to get the all clear from my doctor. DH is very understanding in that department and patient in that department. Right now, even if we had the all clear, I'm not sure when we'd have time. LOL I'm going to go back on the pill after this. I'm not sure which one though as I haven't given it much thought.

1. I am breastfeeding and pumping and I remember I itched too early on. The itching did stop. I wonder if it might be itchy because the skin has to grow to accomodate the milk suply? As for the breast that is larger than the other, have you tried to be consistent with equal breastfeeding or pumping on both sides? The more a breast is stimulated, the more milk it will produce.
2. As for feeding schedules, do what works for you as long as the babies are properly gaining weight! I never woke my daughter up to feed as suggested and now she sleeps like a champ! Consistently 7-8 hrs. a night! I strongly feel this is related to our eat on demand and sleep on demand activities. My sister's son was in the NICU when he was born and of course he was woken up every 2-3 hrs. to feed and even now at 11 months they haven't been able to break him of that! Similarly, a friend of mine woke her son every 2-3 hrs. to feed as suggested and at 5 months he has not been able to sleep longer either! 3. As far as sex, we've thought about it. THOUGHT! I don't know how to find time for it right now but know the intimacy is important for a marriage. We aren't comfortable introducing chemicals to my body since we just spent so much time trying to balance them out to conceive. We plan to go back to condoms. Combined with the fact that most breastfeeding women don't ovulate makes me feel comfortable.

We were forced to take them out earlier this week, when we lost power for two days. We had to pack them both up and stay at my in-laws until we got our power back. I don't know what was more frustrating. The fact that we lost power and have 2 newborns or the fact that I work for the darn power company and it took them 2 days to get our power back on. They've been fine so far. I know we are going to church this Sunday for Easter, so they'll be making a trip out then. Does anyone else find it ironic that doctor's warn you about taking them out in public, but then schedule you for all these appointments in their offices that are full of germs from all of the sick people?

As far as swaddle blankets, has anyone tried the Miracle Blanket? We have a few and they work really well! They are more expensive, but can we really put a price on our sleep!
The MB combines swaddling with lateral belly wrap so it helps calm babies who are fussy with gas too. We have both the MB and SwaddleMe and we like them both, but especially the MB!

I took my daughter out far before 2 months of age (in fact, she's not even 2 months till next week) and she's fine! Now, maybe its different if you have twins who were premature or something. If you are breast feeding the baby/babies get your immunities and antibodies so that protects them. The other thing I think about is parental sanity! Seriously! If I were cooped up for 2 months with a newborn I'd go crazy and then wouldn't be as good a mom for her. Even if you just pack the kids up and go out for a drive...that always helped me to feel like I was still a part of the world. I'd say, if there are no health concerns with you baby/babies you should be fine going out before 2 months.

Candice-You made some good points about the sleeping.I never thought about waking them and then having trouble teaching them to sleep longer. I think my itchiness could be my breasts getting larger,Oh goody!lol The girls were not really premature. They were born at 37 weeks with good lung development. They were just small.I think I may take them out.I can understand not wanting to add any more hormones!
Chris-I wanted to take the girls to church Sunday too, maybe I will.I think I will try the mini pill.Since 20 weeks we were on pelvic rest and before that I was not interested so I am getting a little crazy. We don't have much time, but I think we could make time!lol Strangest thing,my husband loved my pregnant body but now he said he LOVES my body now!Umm,I'm not sure why but has anyone else had this.I think he is friskier now than before we got pregnant.lol TMI!

Ok, maybe I'm the bad mom here but we've had our baby out since a little more than a week old. And he had to go to the doctor at 5 days old (he had a "hip click" from being breech that they needed to check out). So, Chris, yes. I'm sitting there listening to all the sniffeling people in the doctors office wondering why some doctors say not to take babies out. We've just taken him to Target, doctors (his and mine), and yesterday the grocery store. He's in his carrier/stroller the entire time and noone is touching him. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I'm not letting people slobber all over him and they have to get exposed sometime. I do have to say I was nervous though!
SEX!!! Oh how I miss you... I will be all over that when the six weeks is up, if not before that. I am going crazy! I think it's almost harder since I didn't have a vaginal birth. I feel fine "down there". I know it's just as important for the c-section to heal though, so I'll try to be good!I won't be going on birth control. Our problem is male factor and we were unprotected for 5 years without getting pregnant. That being said, I know miracles happen every day. If we got pregnant on our own I would just accept it as what is supposed to happen.

SEX??? OMG what is that? That isnt a thought in my mind. I am so sleep deprived if I had a choice between the two its SLEEP. NYFD is so busy with school, clinical, work and help taking night feedings. I am pretty sure Sex is far from his mind as will.
I am not afraid of lack of sex ruining my marriage. We have been thru so much. We have an awesome relationship and is based on so many more things than just sex. Sex is just an added bonus. I have never used anything other than condoms, so I am not sure what to do when the time is right. The RE said we only have a 10% chance of ever getting pregnant on my own. LOL..knowing my luck you know what would happen.. I havent tried MB but I will look into to it. I have never woke up any of my kids to eat, and they have always slept thru the night and never had any problems sleeping. I just cant get these boys to get passed 2 hrs...UUGGGGHHHH As far as taking them out do what ever makes you feel comfortable. My drs office has two rooms sick & well visits but newborns are scheduled early in the morning before sick kids get there too. If you have to bring a newborn in at night which we did last week. They are brought right into the room to be seen as soon as you walk in. Thank God they take newborns right away. I have been debating about taking them to church Sunday too. Decisions...Decisions...

Angela and Chris-I thought the same thing.I dont see our Ped making any house calls!Barbara your doc seems to have the right idea.
Lack of sex definitely wont ruin our marriage but I'm with Angela I feel fine .It has been so long since we hae had a real sex life.It seems once you ttc then everything is so organized and planned!Barbara, sleep is high on my list.I choose sleep over eating all the time. Also,I finally broke down and asked for help so I have went from 0 sleep to around 4 hours !I never thought 4 hours would make me so happy!I think I may take the girls out today for dinner!I'll just put a sign on the stroller that says "DO NOT TOUCH"!
