Felix is doing great! He's eating like a champ, although lately he's almost been too eager when I try to feed him, so he won't latch on properly - he's just frantically grabbing at my boob and not getting anything which makes him more and more frustrated, poor thing. Last night I actually made DH go get a bottle of milk I had pumped just to get him to settle down. He's been sleeping pretty well too; last night I fed him around 11, then again at 2.30 and again at 6, so can't really complain about that! He really is the cutest thing; we're so in love with our snugbug, as we call him ;o)

I'm feeling okay, but I obviously still have some pain from the c-section. The incision is healing nicely, according to the doctor, but it's still painful, especially when I walk. I try to take Felix out every day for a short walk, but by the end I'm always hurting. But it's good to get out, and walking is supposed to be a good way to get rid of all the fluid I'm retaining. Unfortunately, I've had some problems with my blood pressure - it's been sky high, and not just at the doctor's office, but also at home. They've put me on medication which hasn't really worked so far, but I'm hoping it will soon. It's no fun to see bp readings of 183/110! For a while they thought I might have pre-eclampsia which apparently 2% of women get post-partum, but they've run several labs and they all came back normal. So for some reason my blood pressure is just out of whack. I feel fine, but still, it's kinda scary. I went to the doctor yesterday, and they upped my medication, so hopefully something will happen soon. I go back for another check on Friday, so fingers crossed it's better!

Mette I have the same post partum bp issues and have had them with every pregnancy. Having trouble again. I'm on 2 meds and my bp was still on the high side (150s/ 110) and so they added lacix (not sure of the spelling) which gets rid of the excess fluid. Just started that yesterday so we'll see if it works. What do they have you on? Were you on anything during your pregnancy?

I'm on Labetalol 400 mg/day, amd I think it's starting to work. I'm going in for a check this morning, so hopefully it will be down a bit. I really don't like taking medication when I'm breastfeeding, but this was pretty serious stuff. I was never on meds during pregnancy; my bp was fine when I took it at home, they talked about putting me on a diuretic to get rid of excess fluid, but since I'm bf'ing they want to wait until it becomes absolutely necessary as it can affect the milk supply.

Boys just came back from there 2nd dr's appt.
All that food there eating every 2hrs is really paying off.

Billy is 9lbs 4 oz
John is 8lbs 15oz. There 1 month 2 days.

3lbs each in one month. I thought that was a lot. How much has your LO gained in the first month. ( I know every baby is different) I just think it would fun to see how much they are gaining.

Go Billy and John
That is great!!!!
We havent weighed the girls since 3 weeks but here are the results
Birth-
Alivia 4lb11oz
Camilla 5lb11oz
Discharge-
Alivia 4lb3oz
Camilla 5lb2oz
3 weeks-
Alivia 5lb11.5oz
Camilla 6lb8oz
So I would imagine this week judging by the last 3 weeks weight gain that at one month Alivia would be around 6 1/2lbs and Camilla would be right around 7lbs.

Hi everyone! It's official! I'm now a member of the Spring 2009 Mommies!!!

William (we're calling him Billy) was born on 4-16-09 via c-section, at 7:06am. He was 7lbs 15oz and 21" long! He's got quite the pair of lungs on him and is very vocal! But we love him to pieces and are so happy to welcome our son into this world!

I say let the babes eat as much as they'll take! They know what they need and will stop when they're done. I truly believe this is true for breastfed babies because we dont know how much they are getting when they nurse. Some babies are more/less efficient with the suckling and, I say, who are we to judge. This is how my daughter nurses and she is a healthy weight at 2 months...right in the 50th percentile at 11lbs. 4oz. Bottom line: Don't stress about it, IMHO!

We're home! We were both discharged this afternoon. Tonight has been fun trying to get the dog used to the baby. So far so good.

We'll see how tomorrow goes when my hubbie goes back to work. My parents are in town for the week staying with us, so my hubbie is going in to save up some vacation to use when they leave so I will have someone home more that just the first week. The dog is more responsive to my husband than he is to me, and although he's very well behaved, he's 100lbs!

OK, off to eat some dinner now.
