Hi everyone!
We have no real bedtime or naptime routine for Arden yet. We've tried to at various times but life has interfered one way or another. I'm thinking right now that I'm just going to watch her over the next couple weeks and once it gets closer to 3 months, I'll start maneouvering her into a routine. I've given up on thinking she'll nap independently at this age.... I've actually just started co-napping with her this morning and it worked wonders.... I loved it too. I know she's not going to want to snuggle with mummy for much longer so I've really turned my thinking around to just try and cherish this time. I'm so luckythat I have a very supportive husband who almost daily tells me that all I have to do during my days at home is just love, feed, and soothe the baby and feed myself. He comes home and makes dinner for us. I usually get to the dishes once every 2-3 days. He does all the laundry (we have to take it to a laundromat) on the weekend. And we do other housework together on the weekends. I am so lucky. As for BF and the poops... I keep expecting Arden to stop having so many daily poops because that's what the books say. But she has about 3-6 yellow liquid poops a day. And she also grunts when she poops! It makes me laugh. She has her 2 month check-up this friday and I plan to ask about it. We bathe her about every 3 evenings. We had a lot of issues with her with severe baby acne and some heat rashes in the beginning and I just don't want to jinx her sensitive skin. Although she loves bath time so much I wish I could bathe her every night! Is anyone going to a mum and baby group? I've just signed Arden and I up for a group at the local library over the next 5 weeks. I'm looking forward to meeting other mum's and Arden seems to really enjoy being around other people. I'm a little worried that it might be a bit too early to start but we'll see how she does!

Jaime - We went to visit Iker's grandma (my MIL) this Sunday and she lives about 1.5 hours from us with traffic it can turn into 2 easily. He did pretty well, he slept most of the trip and when he was awake he was quiet and enjoying the ride. He loves to take car rides, but he whimpers when my SUV stops like at red lights and stuff, lol.

I am glad to hear that there are some other loud sleepers out there. It has been quite challenging sleeping through it. Olivia has to stay in our room for now because our master bedroom is upstairs and her room is downstairs. That is too far for my munchkin to be right now....It is crazy though, how they can make so much noise yet still be asleep.
So today we had a bit of a bad day. Usually Olivia goes down 2 or 3 times during the day for an hour or so nap. Well today, she just refused to sleep if I was not holding her. I tried the swing, the bouncy seat, the bassinett, the crib....the only time she was quiet was during our walk. So I took her to bed with me...and she finally quieted down. I also fed her for the first time laying down....it was cool. I really hope that was just today...and tomorrow she goes back to normal. Colleen - how do you position Arden when you co-sleep? I am so afraid she will roll over, or I will that I can rest, but not sleep. Jaime - We took Olivia on a 5 hour car ride to see my MIL who is very ill when she was just 2 weeks old. She did great on the way there...slept the whole entire time, and we had to wake her up at each stop. We stopped a few times, about every 1 1/2 - 2 hours and I just brought my boppy pillow and BF her in the car....changed her and put her back into her seat. The way back...she fussed alot...it was alot more stressful. We may be going to Vermont on Monday...a 7-8 hour ride....so not fun. But, my MIL is in hospice now and DH wants to bring Olivia to see her one last time. I am sure that Lyla will do fine for your trip. You may not even need to stop if she sleeps...and hey, if she cries, just stop and feed her.... I never heard of that movement monitor....it sounds interesting...maybe I will get it for when I move Olivia to her room. Well....I need to go give her a bath now...we are behind schedule tonight as I had a rough day and when DH came home, I gave the baby to him and took a nap. Thank God for good men..... I hope everyone gets some sleep.

ladies - thanks for the information on the car ride. i am sure that it will be fine because she is such a good sleeper when she is moving, she is rarely awake when we go for walks or in the car. however, that is going to make saturday night a little stressful because we are coming home saturday as well - Lyla will probably sleep in the car on the way home and then have no desire to go to bed at night and i will be tired from driving... my DH better not get too snookered not to help!!!
last night was rough, Lyla usually falls asleep within 20 minutes after me nursing her, but last night she fussed for over 2 hours and then did not want to go back to sleep after her 2 am feeding... and right now i am listening to her fight not to sleep. i know that she is a loud sleeper but do any of your little ones fight not to sleep? i am not sure what that is all about, it isn't like they are missing something, they don't even know what is going on! just curious if you have any miracle cures for them fighting to sleep. have a great hump day - my baby is 6 weeks today, where did all the time go?

Leah fights going to sleep as well. She will scream when she gets close. We have had hour marathons trying to get this tired baby to sleep. I am taking my first trip without the hubby today. We are going to CT to see my parents so we have a 2.5 hour ride. I hope she sleeps the whole way down.

Jamie and Roxy- My little girl fights going to sleep a lot as well. Both at night and for naps. I suspect sometimes it's because she's gotten over-tired and can't relax. I know I read somewhere that when babies don't get enough sleep during the day, they find it harder to settle at night. Of course, for my poor napper, that's almost every day! I also read somewhere that it takes about 20 minutes after they first fall asleep for them to get to a real deep sleep and that if they are put down before they're in a deep sleep, it's really easy for them to wake themselves up. Arden and I have had some bedtimes when it's close to 2 hours of me trying to settle her before she finally falls asleep for the night. I can commiserate because it makes me quite stressed out. What I've been doing lately is just getting into bed with her and BF in the side-lying position, which allows me to rest and doze off as well. It still takes awhile (especially since I suspect she is comfort sucking at the boob half the time!) but at least I'm getting some rest in the process.
Rosie- I was terrified to co-sleep with her but now that we've done it a few times, I almost want to do it everynight. We have a co-sleeper attached to the bed which is where she sleeps at night. When we were visiting my parents in Vancouver last week, my mum had bought a play pen for her to sleep in in our room. Well she was having none of that and so the first night in desperation, my DH and I slept with Arden between us. She kind of cuddles up next to me. I was surprised that I was actually able to get some sleep. As soon as she stirs at all, I'm awake. If you're side-lying BF and Olivia falls asleep and falls off the boob, then you can kind of gently ease your arm that's underneath her head out and your body a little away from her. Sometimes I gently roll Arden on her back and sometimes I sleep with her facing me and cuddled up close. The blankets I put only up to her waist and I've never had a problem with her getting under them. I think she's too young to be that active in her sleep. Good luck! The more I've done it, the more trusting I am that I'll wake up if I sense something's wrong. So, Arden gave us her first full laugh last night!! It was so wonderful. I think it surprised her and she kept trying to replicate the sound without success. So cute!

Well ladies, PJ did really good today with his two month shots...I didn't do so hot. I felt SO bad for him. I was bawling while he was screaming and DH was just sitting there holding him.
But as soon as we were done, I gave him the boob and he was happy again! LOL! He turns two months on Sunday and today our little chunkasaurus was 12lbs, 5oz and 23 inches long! Our pediatrician said he gets to take in more tylenol and gas drops b/c he's over 12 pounds already! HOLY SMOKES!!! So he's in 71% for weight, 56% height...and for some reason his noggin has stalled, 16% for noodle size (it went up from 11% a month ago ) which for those of you from the July hot momma forum will recall, at the 32 week u/s his head size was an issue as it was in the 66% and I was thinkin how am I gonna push this kid out!?!?! LOL! So he's doing ok. We gave him some tylenol and he's sleeping and eating and that's about it. Otherwise his doctor said he was doing great, couldn't be happier! Guess that boobmilk can really pack on the pounds..OOH and I forgot - he's starting to teeth/get teeth already too! Very drooly and gnawing on fingers YAY!It was DH & my 3 year wedding anniversary today and we're heading out to dinner tonight but DH got me a mini wedding cake since our top layer was destroyed in our crazy freezer...too cute!

Klayton gave me a 7 hour sleep stretch last night ! It was soo nice, but then I found myself going and checking on him to make sure he was still breathing Carter can make about a 5 hour stretch.

Kelli- When i got my AF the first few days were horrible. After that it slowed and mine only lasted about 5 days. That's the 1 thing I didnt miss.
Josh used to eat about 10 and sleep until 630, lately he will eat about 11 and due to reflux we have to keep him upright for 30 minutes so he finally falls asleep about midnight and starts fussing around 430. He also wont nap during the day and if he does it's only for about 30 minutes at a time. He now weighs 10 pounds 7 oz and is 3 months old now. The spinia bifida clinic told us he has neurological problems since he doesnt contantly have his hands open (even though he was 7 1/2 weeks early). Just wondering if everyone else's baby keeps their hands open?

Kelli - still no AF and i am not looking forward to it at all, i am told that the first one is really bad. hopefully you aren't feeling too bad!
Em - I am sure that PJ is fine and that everything will even out, i was told that as long as they stay with the same percentile as they grow than that is what they are worried about not what percentile they are. glad that you made it thru the shots, i am really not looking forward to that roxy - good luck with the ride and i hope that things go well, i am sure that things will go great on the ride colleen - i have also snoozed with Lyla while breastfeeding her in bed but i am also so parnoid that i can't really get comfortable with it. i am still sticking with her in the crib Lyla decided to sleep a lot today and i am trying to keep her awake so that she will sleep tonight and there is a lot of crying, hopefully tonight goes better than last night because it was brutal - i even tried to keep her arms out of her swaddle to see if that would make her happy - and nothing. please bring on a better night tonight! have a great night and i hope that you get plenty of sleep tonight! ![]()

Travelling with the little one(s)...Garrett is awesome in the car and usualyl sleeps. If he is not sleeping he is either looking at himself in the mirror we have attached to the back of the seat or gazing out the window...such a nosy little boy
Sunday we are going on a BIG trip....flying across the country to visit our families and we will be gone for a month. I am sure Garrett and DH will do well. Myself, however, will be a wreck. I am not afraid to fly but I do hate to travel. Also I am not looking forward to him getting totally spoiled and passed around. Yuck, I will end up biting my tongue off for sure on this trip!!Garrett's poops are very frequent and very yellow and runny (and explosive). Every so often it is seedy but it definately is not all of the time. AF....I think she came. I bled for 6 weeks after delivery and had a week sans bleeding. Then all of a sudden it started again and for two nights I would wake up with the worst back pain ever, directly where my epidural was put in. Horrible enough for me to have to stay in bed and have DH put a hot water bottle where it hurt most....I do not look forward to that happening again. And what the heck, of course I have to be one of the ones who bfs AND gets AF! Garrett is 2 months old today...time is going WAY too fast for my liking. He has his needles tomorrow morning....I am anxious to see if the doc was accurate the other day with his measurments. She had him at 11lbs and 6ozs (50th percentile), average head circumfrence, and poor little shorty at 21 inches and only in the 10th percentile. Both DH and I are very short....we were hoping Little Man would get some tall(er) jeans from someone else in our family!! LOL! Grrrrr, DH is wonderful but I have to vent. He was gone all day today working, came home for supper, and is gone again now. We have another property that we want to sell and he is trying to paint the inside and spruce it up a little. Its not that I even need a break...it would just be nice if he was here with me. I did want to go to the grocery store though and Garrett is sleeping...when he gets up he will need to be fed, bathed, and back to sleep again. I know I would never beable to leave Garrett to go back to work but sometimes I think I would like to be working and I feel sooo guilty. I am in Canada and work with a school board so I will not be expected back for at least another year and I know I should be counting my blessings and believe me, I am. I just need to get myself and Garrett out more, socializing with other people, namely, adults When we come back from our vacation we will do just that....Happy rest of the week girls ![]()

kelli, no af for me just yet. I am bf ing but had to do formula for 1 1/2 days so the window is there. But I wasn't ever regular before getting preggy and never ovulated on my own so I'm not holding my breath...
Cny- pj isn't quite two months yet but he does not keep his hands open all the time at all. I think your dr might be mistaken bc in my baby games book it talks about at this age that the wee ones are just starting to open hands and grab and things. Is josh opening them at all? If so, he should be fine! Monique-ugh girl, good luck w the trip! Dh and I are considering going to his nieces bday party on Sunday 3 hours away...we'll see! Jamie, hope tonight goes really good. You and Lyla need a break!
