newborn reflux

My 2 week old son has been put on Zantac. I tried BF but my milk never came in so he is now on Soy formula. We are using Dr Browns bottles, but he is still really gassy, gets the hiccups a lot, and doesn't sleep very comfortable.
Do any of you have any tips for a reflux baby? What bottles do you like the best, did you use a sleeping wedge...any help would be greatly appreciated.

We ended up using a wedge, per our pediatrician, so say don't use it, ours said it can help, so ask your ped. We also used the low gas, anti reflux formula, and that helped.

DS was on previcid until he was 14 months, so a long time!

i also used the wedge as per our pedi, it seemed to help. As well keeping her is a somewhat upright position, at least 30% for 15 minutes after each feeding. i am BF, so we didn't use any other forumla. good luck and i hope your LO feels better soon!

My son had pretty bad reflux too, he would scream and buck up an d down after every feeding. We tried Zantac but it didnt do anything once we put him on Prevacid liquid it was a total dif. He still had alot of gas and tummy issues that were helped with by mylicon and gripe water but alot of young babies do bc their system is still so immatuire. I have to say I was lucky enough for some reason his reflux never bothered him before sleeping or during middle of the night feedings so we didnt have to use a wedge

Our ped recommended that LO slept in his infant carseat. There were several things we did to make it as safe as possible. Like buckling up the straps, tipping it back, and then placing it his bassinet (which was just big enough to fit into and not allow any rocking). That seemed to help. The wedge didn't lift him up enough. I wouldn't recommend the carseat unless you talk to PED because you really need to know how to set them up properly. If the baby doesn't get tilted enough they can suffocate and its not something they suggest for every baby.
Mylicon drops helped a little but, not much. Mostly we just held him, rocked, and cuddled. As long as he was upright he seemed to do okay.

Our pedi put Josh on Axid, has us use the wedge and keep him upright for at least 30mons after eating. It all seems to be helping

We put our first daughter on Zantac as well as Nutramigen for the first few months then kept her on a lactose free formula. Soy seemed to upset her little tummy even more than the regular formula did and I found that the spit up was very staining of her bibs and clothes while on the soy.

I'm also experiencing very bad reflux problems with my daughter. The doctor has tried her on Zantac which didn't seem to work, now we are on Prevacid and I think she's doing better, but she does scream and arch back with some bottles during the day. They also switched us from breastmilk to Nutramigen as a test. We sleep her in her swing buckled in and she really doesn't have problems at night...mainly from 2pm- 10pm. I'm hoping that we'll be able to get her back on breastmilk soon because I'm not so sure the formula is really helping. She is eating less of it than when she was getting breastmilk.

I've read and heard from friends that taking the baby to a chiropractor can help. Has anyone tried this?
Here are some websites I found that talk about it...

My DS had horrible reflux. He was on Zantac, which didn't work. The Ped eventually switched him to Prevacid and that worked so much better. We also had DS on Enfamil Gentlease formula (partially broken down). We just stopped the Prevaid at 9 months. We also had to burp him after every ounce of formula, which helped a lot and keeping him upright after feedings. DS also slept in his car seat for the first 4 months and my Ped didn't have a problem with it at all.

Our daughter doesn't have reflux, not diagnosed anyways.
She did have feeding problems where she would arch her back and scream, and she did spit up A LOT. She is just about 4 months old now and much better.

The reason I am chiming in is because we take our daughter to a chiropractor. It has worked wonders. Right from the first appointment. She used to last MAYBE 2 minutes in tummy time. Right after the first appointment she was able to do 7 or more minutes. She also used to favour certain positions to be held in and she has become more flexible in how we can hold her. She used to favour looking to one side more than the other and now will look both ways equally. She is A LOT less irritable than she used to be.

We love that we take her, and continue to do so every 2 weeks. And she loves it. Sometimes she even falls asleep. Chiropractor for a baby is very mild. They do not crack their joints or anything. It is basically a very light massage of the spinal joints.

Our chiropractor works with kids. And studies have shown that chiro work does help reflux, sleep issues, digestive problems, etc. Our daughter was about 8 weeks old when we first took her.

Sounds interesting. I have a friend at church who is a chiropractor, I will ask her about it and see if there is someone she can recommend.

One of my twins has had severe GERD since birth and he sleeps on the AR wedge and I have found it easiest to feed him while he is drowsy or asleep.we have been to a pediatric gi dr as well as a feeding therapist and he is currently on 15 mg of prevacid a day.he tried zantac and prilosec and none of it helped.the ped gi dr told me that unfortunately the only real cure will be time.he's 7 months old and I have spent many days at my wits end.infant reflux sucks.
