Hi Ladies,
Everyone was so helpful with my breastfreeding question I thought I would ask another. I am wondering what week your twins were born and when you got to take them home?
I am starting to get nervous because I am 1 cm dialated and 60% effaced. I am sure that is not much, but they had me sign the c-section consent forms at the doctors office yesterday, which makes me think things are moving right along.

I am guessing the c-section form is something they normally do with twins (just guessing from the research I did since twins run in the family but I only ended up with one). I have seen a lot of twins go anywhere from 35-38 weeks (there are a lot in my family). I am sure someone will be on shortly to give their experience.

A good friend just gave birth to Twin Girls. They tried to get her to 36 weeks but they were born at 34 weeks. They remained in the hospital for 2 more weeks after Mom was discharged. Also a cousin recently gave birth to Twin boys and they were delivered via c-section at 38 weeks and they were sent home with their Mom. It all depende on when you go into labor and what health they are in when they are born.

Mine came at 31 weeks, but I had preeclampsia. They were in the Nicu for 40/42 days. I had them home 3 weeks before their due date.

mine were born on their scheduled c-section date of 37 weeks and 2 days. We had a c-section bc both were heads up. They were both healthy and weighed 5lbs 10oz each (they weighed the same!). They came home with me when I left the hospital after 3 days.

Thank you ladies, I am just starting to get nervous. I really would like to keep these two in as long as possible, but my doc thinks there is no way I am going to make it to my scheduled c-section at 38.3 weeks. They can feel baby boys head when they do the internal, strange. So here I sit hoping that I make it to at least 36 weeks.

This is great to hear - keep 'em coming. I too am hoping that I make it as long as possible but it is good to see what really happens verses what we want to happen!

If you don't mind me asking, were you all pretty much within your weight range when you got pregnant. I am afraid because I am already 30 pounds overweight.

Love Drug, Heck no I'm fluffy. Doc says I'm doing great and gets on me for being obsessed with weight gain, I have gained 29 pounds so far. I am also 5'8" and have only gained in the boobs and belly no where else. Everyone can't believe how great I look, could lying though because they don't want to be attacked by a hormonal pg lady . Everyone also thinks I look small and expected me to be huge, but I think because my torso is so long I don't look as big.

My doc told me to gain 45 pounds so even though my perception was that I was overweight that is about what I should gain with a twin pregnancy starting out at average weight.

My twins were born via c-section at 37 weeks and we all went home after 4 days in the hospital. My c-section had been scheduled for 38 weeks but I suddenly developed pre-eclapsia at week 36.5.

I had pre-eclampsia and I had my girls at 33 weeks. I was able to take them home two weeks later! Not bad. My smallest was 3 lbs 4 oz and the larger one was 5 lbs. Mila, the larger, had to be intubated for about a week. Other than that, they were completely healthy. I took them home when they weighed 3 lbs 11 oz and 5 lbs 4 oz.

I gained a total of 56 lbs during my pregnancy and I have another 12 lbs more to lose before I'm back at my previous weight, which is still about 30 lbs over what I should be.

I'm 5'11 and weighed 133 pre-pregnancy. I gained 65 pounds with my twins! I think so much of it was water weight because after 3 weeks I was within 10 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight.

Try not to worry about weight gain. As long as your babies are doing well you are doing what you should.

I had my twins at 34 weeks due to pre-e and cholestasis (extreme itching). They felt it was better for them to be out since their lungs were really developed. They were 4 lbs. 9 oz and 4lbs, 2oz.

Their apgar scores were 9s and they didn't have to be on any assistance in the NICU except monitors.

they went home after 2 weeks.

i also had a friend with frat twin boys that delivered around 36 weeks and her boys were in the NICU and one had to return to the PICU for a bit due to reflux and apnea.

you will do well, at this point, the babies are strong (did i read you were past 34 weeks).

and even when mine were in the NICU, it was really the intermediate care unit...our babies co-bedded after they got off their billy lights (oh, i forgot they had jaundice, it's pretty typical).

i gained 39 lbs, all but 5 lbs is gone...now i have to work on the 20 i gained while TTC for 1.5 years!!!!

I was induced at 37 weeks exactly due to my rising blood pressure. My dd was born naturally and ds was born via emergency c-section. They both got to come home with me 4 days later. Good luck!!!
