That's a wonderful report Laurie. And just hearing you describe the surrounding at the hospital breaks my heart.

Anna, I have given Ethan one small serving worth (on Wednesday) of the carrots and he loved them. It was only about 1/4 of the jar as it was the little extra that didn't go into filling the other jars. I just wanted to check it out first. He finished up squash yesterday so tonight we'll move on back to sweet potatoes and see how things go this time.

Ethan's having some sort of bug bite issue or allergic reaction or something. It started yesterday evening and it's still going today so I'm taking him to his ped at 11. Let's hope she can tell me what it is and thus how to treat it. Poor little guy is itching.

Laurie, I'm so happy that you came out of that appt feeling better about all of this. Sounds like everything will be fine. I can't imagine what those other mothers must be going through that need to be at that hospital. It makes me so sad to see those children, but also blessed at the same time.

Jen, I'm glad Ethan is enjoying his homemade food. How long are you planning on being on the veggies? When do you plan on starting the fruits? We're almost done with sweet potatoes and then have the sweet peas. I don't know if I should start the fruit after that or continue with the veggies for awhile longer. So, how is Ethan doing? What did the doctor say? Do you think it had anything to do with his food?

Laci, how is Karson doing? I can't remember...are you feeding veggies yet?

So, I woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and I started getting worse and worse as the day progressed. I'm really hoping its just a sinus infection. I don't want to get the girls sick. My throat is all scratchy and irritated, I've been coughing all day, and my stomach is all upset from all the sinuses draining. I have the weekend to get better before returning to work on Monday. I don't think it helps that I see sick people all day every day at work...especially with my immune system. Ugh...I really pray the girls don't get sick! I hate seeing them miserable.

Talking We got a tooth!!

Okay girls, we have news!!!!! Last night as my Mom was playing eith Avery, Avery grabbed her hand and pulled it up to her mouth. Next thing we knew my Mom said "Oh my gosh! She just bit me and it hurt! I think she has a TOOTH!" Sure enough, we stuck out finger back in her mouth and she does! I was totally shocked. I felt like an idiot because it is obvious that it has probably been there close to a week. It is very, very sharp. I am still in shock. She finally did something first! Go Avery! I was thinking though that this is WAY early if you consider her adjusted age. She is what 5 1/2 months so if you back off the 6 weeks that they came early she should really only be 4 months. Crazy!?!! Anyway, I am going to take a picture in a few minutes and see if you can tell.

Congrats Avery! Wow, that is really impressive. Did she have a day where she was really fussy? I was told by someone that I work with that her son cried all day when he got his first tooth. So, I always thought that when it happened I would for sure know. If Avery didn't act any fussier than normal than I just don't know what to look for. Can't wait to see pics! Is the tooth in the front, back, top, bottom?

Hey Anna - Avery can be a fussy baby in general to an extent. It's like she has a switch that is happ, smiling, laughing, cuddling, etc. or screaming, screaming, red as a beet, screaming, etc. I guess I knew that she had to be teething to an extent. She wasn't happy unless she had something in her mouth like her WHOLE fist or a toy or rattle or something but she never crys for long periods of time like Jen and Laci have said that Ethan and Karson do. She gets upset but usually she can be calmed down realtively quickly. Plus, she does have some constipation issues so I just thought a lot of had to do with that. Maybe a tummy ache? I just wasn't expecting a tooth. Like I said, it just seems really early, especially when you consider her adjusted age. My mom looked and I cut my first tooth at 6 1/2 months but I was also a full term baby.

Anyway, if you are looking at her it is the lower left tooth....I looked in the book and that is the incisor I think?? I took a picture earlier but all you can see is the pink inside color of her mouth, and saliva of course. I will have to wait another week probably and see how much has come through by then.

How do you feel by the way? I am so caught up in my own stuff I didn't even ask.

Wow Laurie. I am very impressed with Miss Avery. That is early for her adjusted age, but every baby is different. The best part is that although she has many to go, she has one down!! Also, I am so glad that when Avery has her crying meltdowns she is easy to console. I am concerned that Karson might have my disposition rather than his Dad's.

Anna - I have not started veggies yet. We are still trying to get the hang of cereal. He is not great with the spoon yet, but he is getting better. As far as being sick, even if you are contagious, the girls probably still have your immunity and will be fine. About one month ago I got a 24 hour stomach virus. I was so worried that Karson would get this because I had been hugging and kissing him until the time I got sick, but he never did.

Jen - Hope Ethan is doing okay.

Laurie, its too bad that you couldn't get a good pic of the first tooth. That would definitely be one to put in the baby book. Has she bitten you yet? he...he... I can relate. I may not notice if our girls get a tooth either. They both still have constipation issues and sometimes scream for a little while and then are fine and Mila tries to get both of her fists in her mouth at the same time. Today, Mila was chewing on a toy for so long and slobbering that her whole onesie was soaked! All the way down to the snaps! I had just changed her for the day and had to go grab another onesie. I suppose I'll have to just keep a bib on her when she's playing from now on. Oh, and I'm feeling okay. A little better from this morning but still coughing, sneezing and just miserable. The girls were nice and took a nap at the same time for once today. So, I was able to get at least an hour nap in.

Laci, that makes me feel better. Since I know I have to be handling them and I'm so worried that they'll start showing symptoms now too. And I'm sure Karson will pick up eating real soon. It doesn't take long and then they're eating you out of house and home.

Anna, Ethan's been doing both fruits and vegetables. He does cereal plus fruit in the morning and then cereal plus a vegetable for dinner and if he acts like he needs more he gets another jar of fruits in the evening. He just finished up prunes today and will start peaches tomorrow. After peaches he'll have had all the fruits and vegetables they make in stage one foods. Then he'll go on to his homemade carrots and I bought some avocado's today to make him something different. It's listed on the wholesome website as a (4)6+ month recipe. So we'll see how that goes.

Laurie, congrats on the tooth. Ethan's getting close but still not there yet. He's actually got FIVE buds and not a single one is a front tooth. Poor guy. He's got two that are right at the surface so it's only a matter of time.

Laci, if Karson still isn't getting the spoon just give him a week break and try again. Sometimes it takes a little longer. Each baby is different.

Jen - What is so weird is that I don't really think that Avery had what you would call "buds". You would think that if she had the doctor would have seen them but if you remember when I asked him at their four month appointment he said that they weren't teething. Who knows!?!? Obviously that just goes to show you that the doctors don't know everything.

Here are some pics. Sorry if it's too many. I got picture happy when I was loading these.

Here are some of both girls. Then I will do Avery and Presley separately.

Laurie - love the new pics. They are absolutely precious!

Jen - That is exactly what we are going to do with the eating. I have not tried since Friday, and I will try again this Friday. It seems like all your babies took to eating right away, but that just does not seem to be the case for him.

Laurie, I do remember your doctor telling you that and I also remember saying that mom's know best! I love ALL the new pictures of the girls. They really look like the best of friends but you can also see their individual personalities which is so neat. And you look fabulous girl! Way to go!

Laci, I have a friend with two girls now and is pregnant with her third. They lived with us for about four months just about two months after she had her first daughter. She didn't take to eating in the beginning and they kept putting it off like our ped recommends. Well to this day that daughter is still a puney eater, she's not big on food. Her second daughter took to it right away and eats more then her sister who is 2 years older and they weigh the same at 1 and 3! Every child is different. Sometimes comparing just leads us to worry needlessly about things we can't control. I've learned that one the hard way. Ethan's cousin is a day older and she started rolling two months before Ethan, got her first tooth three weeks ago and pops up on her knees already like she's going to crawl early. Ethan doesn't do those things but there are other areas that he works out that Eva doesn't but I don't want to make it a back and forth competition type thing. Ethan's on his own schedule and as long as we keep working with him on things I know in his own time he'll do them. Same with eating.

Laurie - Had to drop in and tell you the girls look SO cute!!! Yay on the tooth! What a good sport. I am so sorry we weren't able to meet up on Friday. Aiden has this crazy runny nose right now and I don't know if it's an actual cold or just teething. I'm waiting on tooth #3. Anyways, my dh is off all next week so we will definitely be able to meet up. Looks like we've got some rough weather headed towards us. Stay covered over there Miss ya!!
