Thanks Jen. I keep reminding myself that all babies are different, and I know you are exactly right. I have worried that this might be a sign of things to come in the eating department, but I hope that is not the case. I have also wondered if it is just the rice he does not care much for. When did you start the veggies?

Laci, I started Ethan on Oatmeal, not rice....so I can't speak on that department. I started him on vegetables (sweet potatoes) on July 19th, the day after his four month appointment when we were given the thumbs up to start them. Now Ethan prefers his fruits or veggies above his oatmeal. He'll eat it still but just looks at you like...."hey, where is the good stuff?!"

Hey ladies! I saw this thread and had to check in with the March ladies! My girlies were originally due April 10th but the OB was going to do a planned c-section the first week of March but of course the girls had other plans and came 10 weeks early. Chronologically they are 7 months but age adjusted they are about 5 months. They are all doing amazing. I can't believe how quick the last 7 months have gone. So how is everyone else?

Jen, my girls will be starting the fruit in about a week. I know prunes are included, but how long do you think is best to do for prunes? I've been doing 6 days for each, but don't know if that is too long for them to be on prunes. I know with the veggies, the girls have not been as constipated but they still only go once every 2-3 days.

Laurie, love the pics! Post as many as you like I love looking at those gorgeous girls! OK, we must have the same taste in things. I know you said we had the same swing. Well, we also have the exact same car seats and also the fishy play area that Presley is playing with. Oh, and I suppose you could include the pink bumbo on that list, but I'm sure almost everyone has that. What are you using in those pics where they are in the bath together? What we use we can only bathe them separately. I think it would be much easier to bathe them together. Your girls are so tall! I can't believe how long they are...They have lots more hair now too!

Laci, let me know how Friday goes. I have to say that my girls didn't really like the rice. So, we went straight to oatmeal which they loved. It was much easier getting them to eat it. But, like Jen said oatmeal was last on their favorites list when we added the veggies. So, we changed to the oatmeal with bananas. Mila loves this more than her veggies now!

Hayley, its great to hear from you! How is your amazing trio doing? How is Sarah adjusting to being a big sister? Does she love helping out? How are solids going for you so far?

Anna, Ethan gets five days worth of everything. He's been having regular bowel movements two to three times a day since starting solids. Prunes haven't made it worse, just starts earlier in the morning but not explosive or runny like I expected. Oh and I don't have a bumbo, starting to think maybe I should. I see everyone else with them and the kids seem to love them.

Hayley, it's great to see you join us. You will always be a March Mommy too, even though the triplets made it a little earlier then we thought. I can't believe it's been 7 months already! Heck, I can't believe it's been 5 months for us already. Time just passes by far too fast.

Robin - Thanks for the compliments! Makes you want 2 girls, huh?? I voted for 1 of each. One more day until Irina's gender scan!

Hey Rach - Aren't they growing? No problem about meeting up but we are going to the beach next week so that won't work. We will figure it out. I am with you on the rough weather. The rain has not let up here.

Thanks girls for all the comments about the pictures. We are pretty partial to them ourselves.

Laci - I completely agree with Jen. Since we have 2 I can tell you that Avery loves to eat!! Loves it! Presley on the other hand was not enthusiatic at all. I will have to post the picture when I first started trying to feed her. I stopped with her for a few days and then tried again. It still took a while. Now, for the most part she enjoys it. On the back of my oatmeal box, it says you may have to try something 10-15 times before they get the hang of it and start to enjoy it. Just hang in there.

Anna- It is so funny that we do have lots of the sames thing. Did you get the stroller that went with the carseats? We did and I have enjoyed it so far. I actually went walking with the girls the other day and put them in the seats without the carriers. I didn't know if they were even big enough to strap in but they were. They looked little but they were too cute.

Hayley - It is great to see you. The girls look like they are thriving.

Jen- You are right, the doctors don't know everything. I actually have to call and get a refill called in for Avery's reflux medication and I am going to tell him about it. I will have to let you know what he says. As far as the bumbo, I would take him with you to the store and let him sit in it before I bought it. He may be a little big for it. I actually only had the pink one and a friend gave me the purple one. Her little girl was born in Jan and is already done with it. She is big for her age as well. Just a thought because they aren't cheap. $40 bucks at BRU. That is the reason we only got one.

Laurie, it's the cost that pushed us back to begin with. While that isn't necessarily hugely expensive it's not cheap either. And yes, he's growing out of things so quickly that I wonder if he'd already be too big. We are working on him sitting up but right now that's just in between my legs or prepped up on the couch. Our Wal-Mart has two only and they are in boxes but I'll have to take a look at that next time I'm there with him, which isn't often. I normally do my grocery running Wednesday during my lunch hour and store things here at work until I leave to go home. That way I'm not trying to do too much juggling.

Yeah, the ones at BRU don't have plastic or anything around them so it is very easy to just take them out of the box and try it. You can see though that our girls already kinda fill them up though and they are near as big as Ethan. I will say that it has helped with both of them. We were playing with Presley last night on the bed and believe it of not she can balance herself for like 6 or 7 seconds. Avery on the other hand is not interested. All she is interested in is sucking on her big toe! Or either her whole fist.

Avery sounds a lot like Ethan. He'd rather be laying on the floor, rolling around or putting his feet in his mouth these days. He did sit in his exersaucer for about 20 minutes for me yesterday while I did dishes. First time he's allowed me to finish something. His evening schedule is rough that way. He wants to take a cat nap around 5:30-6 and then eats at 6:30 and takes his bottle around 7:30 and is in bed by 8:30. So there isn't a lot of time that he's not in need of our attention. But we make it work. Usually on the weekends is when I do my cleaning but with DH keeping us out of the house going here and there we've not got enough done the past two weeks and it's driving me crazy.

Ok girls, back to the homemade baby food. I'm stocked up and ready to go. Ethan is on peaches this week and then once we make it through the next couple of days we'll know that he hasn't had reactions to any of his stage 1 foods thus far. So I went out today on my lunch hour and bought his fresh/frozen food to get the party started at home. I've got a huge squash (and it was the smallest they had), three sweet potatoes, three pears, three apples, a thing of bananas, frozen green beans and frozen peas. I think we'll be set for a little while. I just have to figure out what I want to do first. I'm thinking of doing a combo with the bananas/apples/pears since he'll be out of fruit after this week is up. Wish me luck!

Jen - Karson likes to sit in his bumbo, but most of the time about 10-15 minutes is his max before he wants to move on to something else. Laurie is right about the size. Karson seems to be getting a little big for it, and there is not much room around his poor "little" legs. In addition, he can arch his back and lift himself out of it, so I have been very careful not to leave him in it when I am not right there. Let us know how the food goes!

Ok so I'll say no on the bumbo for this guy. Maybe with the next one.

I'm so excited to get home and get cooking. Of course I'll only get a little done tonight. The fruits have to be "ripe" so that might take a couple of days but we'll be ready! My mom thinks I've bought way to much and belive me, this squash is massive so it might be. But I think I can handle the rest. Not only do I have about 12 jars saved at home but I also have toss n go bowls (big, not small) that I plan on using, plus my ice cube trays.

Hi ladies. I just wanted to let you know that I tried the oatmeal cereal last night, and Karson did very well. He ate all that I fixed, and he seemed to like it. So, maybe he just did not like the rice. I will try it again tonight and see how it goes.

That's wonderful news. I just made a ton of bananas and put the cereal in with it. Well see how that goes.

I am so glad you are discussing food. I am not sure whether or not I want to get started on making the food. Yes, in the long run it will be a savings which is something we could use BUT having the time to make baby food for 3 is an all day event. Let's face it, time is not something I have extra of these days. Right now the girls are enjoying the carrots, squash and sweet potatoes. Tomorrow we are going to try some peas. Does anyone remember when the pedi suggested introducing fruit?
