We have a ton of plans for this weekend, we just have yet to finalize any. We have two sets of friends who have recently moved and both sets want us to come out for a day. Then his uncle, wife and girls are camping and they want us to come out one day and do some fishing. I'm trying to figure out how to fish with an infant! The weather is supposed to FINALLY be in the 70s and 80s this weekend so I know we'll be outside at some point. Just gotta make DH make up his mind of what we'll be doing when so I know how to prepare for Ethan.
As for missing the shots today I'd be torn too. My mom went with me and actually tried to kick me out of the room for the shots. She knew I'd cry. But I told her I wasn't leaving my son and that I wanted to hold him myself. But to see his poor little face after the first shot was heartbreaking. And sure enough, that's when I started to cry a little. But I knew he needed me to be strong so I did my best and tried to calm him, letting him know I was there and sorry he had to go through it. I too love to get his weights and measurements, see where he is in the range for his age group and to hear/see what the doctor has to say. It's a wonderful experience, minus the pain of the shots. Unfortunately they'll get shots at every appointment for the next few months (I think it's 4, 6, and 8 for sure).

Wow! You really do have a lot planned for the weekend. I can't imagine fishing with an infant. Would you be in a boat? It probably would be easier to do by land. Sounds like you're gonna have some great weather as well.

Our plans are actually kinda boring. We probably will go for lots of walks in some nice local parks and maybe bbq out one day. We also wanted to go through our closets and donate all the clothes that don't fit us anymore. Since, I basically don't fit in any of my old clothes, I just figured it is now time to just get rid of them. We also need to go shopping for a couple of birthday gifts. Our Goddaughter turns 2 in a week and my mother turns 63 in about a week. There is a cute baby boutique called Goo Goo Ga Ga that we'll probably stop at as well.

We'd be on land, I couldn't imagine taking Ethan on a boat just yet. Although we do have own our canoe. Maybe when he's a few months older and sitting up on his own. I'm sure we'll be putting our infant carrier to good use this week. I've worn it with him once but that was while I was still nursing so at least four weeks ago! DH has never used it. We love to take walks too but by the time DH gets home in the evening Ethan is taking his last bottle and falling asleep (which is around 7). So we like to try and walk during the weekend but here lately it's just been rainy, windy or cold. So we are definitely looking forward to some nice weather. Boring weekends are the best, I enjoy my lazy weekends at home with Ethan and DH more then the ones that we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off.....this is how most of our holidays turn out - I'm not looking forward to trekking him around for Thanksgiving and Christmas hitting four families per day!

So, DH said the girls did really good with their shots. They screamed, but stopped right away. However, both of our girls have a cold right now and they are extremely fussy with just having their shots as well. Poor Mila has a mild fever due to the shots and she is just so congested. She's coughing, sneezing and just plain miserable. I'm also now coughing, sneezing, and still haven't eatin' anything but toast since Monday morning. To top it all off, I have an interview scheduled for 10:30 a.m. this morning. I can't reschedule either because I already have rescheduled with them twice already. I just can't imagine what they think of me. I hope I don't get any of them sick.

So, Maddie is now 7 lbs 8 oz and Mila is now 9 lbs 3 oz. So much tinier than your not-so-little Ethan. The doctor was impressed that they were measuring close to full-term 2 month old babies. Normally, preemie babies wouldn't even be on the charts to compare. So, Mila is in the 5th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight compared to a full-term 2 month baby. Maddie isn't on the charts for weight, but is in the 5th percentile for height.

I have a feeling we won't be doing much of anything this weekend if all of us are still sick. DH is doing better and finally went back to work today. He went home early Monday and had to take off Tues and Wed. And, he's the one that NEVER gets sick.

Did you start looking for outfits for your dedication? Is it basically like a baptism? I've never heard of a dedication before, just either a baptism or christening. Just curious. I'm excited to finally start taking the girls to church now. I just hope they're feeling better. Our church is now going to their summer service which is now only one service each Sunday. Since so many vacation, they combine the services, which gets pretty crowded. You basically have to get there at least 15 minutes early to get seats for just 3 people.

Sorry, just rambling again. The girls are actually sleeping right now and I'm taking advantage of this nice break.

Ramble away, it's nice to have the time to do that here and there! Ok, a dedication is more for the parents then the child. It's us dedicating Ethan to the Lord and vowing to raise him up for the Lord. While my pastor would do a christening/baptism he's more of a believer in dedicating first until the child is of the age to make the decision himself to accept Jesus into his heart and life, then he'll follow through in baptism. We didn't find anything that I'd consider "nice" but we found something. I plan on looking again this weekend. We just don't have enough in our small little town so it looks like we'll be taking a trip out of town at some point this weekend or early next weekend before Sunday obviously.
Look at your girls go! They are great sizes all things considered. I had to laugh at your remark on my "not-so-little Ethan"....honey he was bigger then Maddie is now when he was born and he was 9 lbs 5 oz at his 2 week appointment! He's a HUGE boy. But he's a healthy boy and that's all I can ask for. He's measuring in the 85% range for his age in weight and 95% for height. I'm glad the girls did well with their shots. Ethan ended up with a slight fever (100.0) on Tuesday night but was never fussy. But with the girls being sick already it makes sense. Seems to be the season we are in. I have a sinus infection, Dh has a slight cold (he too NEVER gets sick). Ethan was coughing, sneezing and had lots of mucus in his nose last week. So looks like we are in the same boat. I hope your interview goes well today, just be honest with them. I'm sure they'll appreciate that you don't want to get them sick as well, talk about a lasting impression!

OK. I've heard of that before. I knew some people waited on getting baptised, but I've never heard of a dedication. Do you do that in front of the congregation and do they use the water or anything? Probably not the water, since its not the actual baptism, am I right? The boutique I mentioned before called Goo Goo Ga Ga actually had about 30 gowns to pick from for girls and probably about 15 different suits for the boys. Unfortunately, I don't think they have a website. I'm sure you'll find something for your handsome Ethan.

I still can't get over how BIG Ethan is. He's gonna be a football player, huh? The baby boys in our family are always on the smaller side. My cousins little boy is 6 months old and he is in the 5th percentile. Ethan is probably as big as he is now.

Well, the girls are doing better today. They're not as fussy. Mila is still really congested, but they've just been sleeping all day long. Which has been really nice, since I haven't felt well either. We've just been laying around all day. They've woken up for their feedings and then just passed out again right after.

Well, the interview went fine. The job would be a high stress environment, though, and I don't know if I want that. I want to put all my energy into my girls and then have a more laid back job. So, I'll have to see what else is out there. I'm actually thinking about doing banquets. My MIL said when she worked those that you just brought out the food and it was pretty easy and she made about $100 a night for only a couple of hours. Then, we also wouldn't need a babysitter at all. I would just work 3 nights a week. I'm still weighing my options. If I haven't made a decision by mid-June, I'm just gonna go back to my previous employer.

Whatever happened to everyone else? Evita where are you hiding? I'm sure everyone is busy. Sometimes I wonder how I find time to get on the computer with the twins.

Anna, Ethan is going to be big like his daddy - no question. And we do laugh when people tell us he's going to be a football player because his wardrobe already consists of plenty of football wear! Sorry to hear that your interview wasn't what you were hoping for. I agree that a high stress environment probably wouldn't be the best decision for you right now. My brother works for a catering company doing banquets and he loves it. He's a full time college student and works mainly weekends or nights he doesn't have class and it's more then enough to pay his rent/utilities and school expenses.

Hi there,

anna and Jen - sounds like a lot going on with both of you.

just plugging along here. both of our babies had their shots. i held down DS and when he cried i started to bawl. good thing DH was there to handle DD...but they did really well. the tylenol helped a lot and they slept well that afternoon. Anna - ours are about the same weight as yours...DS is 7.14 and DD is 8.15...amazing what a pound can do for a baby...DS seems so much smaller.

Jen thanks for the info on the reflux...we have DS on a wedge called the tucker wedge...it has a harness and he is basically at a 30 degree angle. it's kinda funny...it does help but then i feel like there are times when everything we try only works once.

good news...DD can sleep through the night (aka - 6 hours)...that happened twice in the last week...we're hoping it will repeat more and happen with DS...

we also have an appt with the pediatric GI specialist on June 2nd...we're hoping he can help more with DS.

well, hope you are all feeling healthy again...it must be tough to care for yourself and the babies.

DH and i are going to the Indiana JOnes premiere since my mom and MIL are here to watch the kids.

Anna and Jen,

I see you two are about the only ones posting on here. I was an April due date, but made is March 31! Our little girl and boy arrived at week 36 for me. Everyone is doing great. I forgot altogether about getting on here. I have been emailing family and friends, but really I neglected the ladies who supported me for nine months and even many months during IVF treatments. Anyways, I am linking my blog for the twins as opposed to uploading pictures to here. I will try to get on here more often. I enjoyed reading your advice about the two month check up. That is something I am NOT looking forward to, but we go June 6.

Margaret

I am here girls...I just saw this thread. I have been posting here and there but I am really busy with the girls. They are both doing well and we have started rice cereal in the bottle once a day at bedtime. The girls go down on average between 9:30 and 10:00 and are waking up around 6am or so. They are so sweet and lovable.... I love being a MOM!!!! The feeling I had on Mother's Day....all I can say iw WOW! We are all so lucky.

Sounds like all these babies are thriving.....Ethan seems to be the biggest though. Evita I am glad to here that Eva is doing so well. Anna- I am so sorry about the constipation. It upsets me to see them straining at all to go to the bathroom. Luckily our girls haven't had an problems like that. It probably has a lot to do with the formula. With the girls being on breastmilk we are fortunate because they go anywhere from 1-3 times a day. They are very regular.

Here are a few pics of my girls.....

Laurie, the girls are growing beautifully. Look at them! As for their sleeping pattern I'm jealous. Ethan still wakes up once or twice a night to be fed. Probably because he can't seem to get a full bottle down in the evening before passing out. Our pediatrician considers "sleeping through the night" to be from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. So you are right on!

Margaret, welcome to the March Mommies club! I love seeing new people on here. Doesn't matter what month you were due, we'll take you! I look forward to visiting your blog when I get home tonight and get Ethan settled. Now it's time to go pick him up!

Oh Laurie, you said you guys started rice cereal, did your pediatrician tell you to do this already? Mine said absolutely nothing other then formula until he's between 4-6 months old. Is it because they are preemie? I'm sure this would more then help Ethan stay fuller longer but I don't want to force food on him. We are still trying to work on upgrading from a four ounce bottle to five to six. He does about two five or six ounce bottles a day but after that it's four consistently. It took us about two weeks to get there after I stopped breastfeeding. But as you can see from his sizes above, he's not lacking!

Jen - My doctor said that as long as we didn't have a history or eczema or any allergies that we could give them 2-3 teaspoons mixed with pumped breastmilk in a bottle. They seem to love it. They usually take 5 ounces right before bed if we can get it in them. The rest of the day they take 4 - 4 1/2. 4 wasn't satisfying them for the duration so I jumped up to 5 and sometimes they finish it all and sometimes they don't. They went down earlier than normal last night (about 9:15) but they made it until 5 this morning so I was still pleased with that. Presley was who woke up so I just went ahead and woke Avery up too. I so dread when we end up going on formula. Some friends of ours that have b/g twins both have a milk allergy and are on an Enfamil formula that is really expensive. The babies are 4 1/2 months old and are up to 8 ounces a feed so it is costing them about $150 a week!! I couldn't imagine but our time is probably coming.

Margaret - We were obviously posting at the same time. Your babies are beautiful!! So much hair and in a a couple of the pics they really look a lot alike to be b/g twins.

Laurie, that is an interesting fact. DH and I don't have eczema or food allergies (we have environmental ones though) so I wonder if it would hurt us to try giving Ethan just a little cereal. Then again with him being on formula, which is thicker then breastmilk anyway, maybe it's not necessary. Are you pumping for the twins or actually feeding them both from the breast? I really miss breastfeeding Ethan. But he's doing fine on the formula now so I can't complain.

Margaret, what beautiful twins you have. I just can't get over how much they look alike and my goodness look at that hair!

You should call and ask!! I do a little of both but mainly I pump. I am back at work from 7-12 every day so I get up in the mornings and pump instead of trying to feed both of them. I leave DH at home with them and he feeds them around 8 or 8:30 and then they are ready to eat again when I get home. It is tedious but better for them and better than paying for 2 to be on formula. I am trying to do it as long as I can but I won't lie, it is hard to stay motivated. My boobs are huge!!
