Co-sleepers... need to know...

Hi there- I am 28 weeks and will be using the Arm's Reach co-sleeper. Forgive me if this makes me sound dumb!

What do you all do for naps when you are home during the day if you are co-sleeping at night?
DO you put baby down in a crib for daytime naps?
Or do you just use the co-sleeper?
Sorry, I am just nervous and have no idea what i am supposed to do!
Thanks for your help!!!

Congrats on your pregnancy and your little girl (shhhhh, I won't tell your DH, lol - I don't know how you are keeping that a secret - I so would have let it slip by now!!)!! I co-sleep with my son at night and during the day he sleeps in his crib. But he is 13 months now and that all didn't really start until about 8 months. He had reflux, so he had a tough time lying on his back, so for the first couple months, anytime he slept it was on my chest. I was exhausted all the time anyhow, so it worked out for both of us!

Good luck!!

Thanks! That is helpful to know. I have massive reflux and I know how uncomfortable it is to sleep. I can't even imagine the poor baby with it. I hope it's not heriditary!
Dh has it too.

My baby sleeps in the crib at night but she sleeps with me during the day (afternoon nap) or in the living room itself in the bassinet. I am now alone in the house with her and so i have to keep her in front of my eyes when i do household chores. Or i use the sling sometimes. Also i tried making her sleep in the crib during the day but she always gets up screaming as if saying 'keep me with you mom'... LOL maybe it is just my imagination but she doesn't like sleeping alone in her crib during the day! At night she knows that moma and dad are nearby and she goes to sleep on her own sometimes listening to the soothing music of the cot mobile while me and DH talk before we go to sleep. I still co-sleep with her whenever she seems super cranky and she seems to cool down instantly.

Good luck Susan! I am waiting eagerly to see the pics of your little girl!!!

Oh yes- I forgot about that - when LP was smaller he used to nap during the day at times in the pack and play in the family room where I could see him. We also had a Moses Basket on the recommendation of my cousin who's son LOVED theirs, but since LP couldn't sleep on his back due to the reflux, it wasn't as big a hit in our house.

i let this guy sleep all over- in the bassinet next to my bed, in his crib, in the pack and play in the family room, in his carrier, in his swing... Whatever works! Now at 4 months, he naps almost exclusively in his crib- can't wait to see pics of your little girl!

My son was colic the 1st three months so at times we co-slept. He would sleep in my arms. During the day he napped in his swing and rarely in his pack n play bassinet thing. Now that he is almost 7 months old he co-sleeps with me rarely, only when he is having a rough night but mostly sleeps in his crib at night and sometimes during the day. During the day I either take a nap with him on my bed or I put him in his swing, crib or my bed. He pretty much makes the decision on where he will take a nap

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

We have a playpen set up in the dining room (one of those with the adjustable height) and she napped there her first month or so. After that, when the colic hit, she napped (and slept at night) on my or dh's chest on the couch while we half way sat up and tried to sleep. It was the only way she would sleep when her belly was bothering her! I still hold her sometimes during her naps when I am home, especially lately with all the stuff she is trying to get over right now! Good Luck!

P slept in our bed during his naps for awhile. He's mobile now so he goes down in his crib during the day. We did the same with our older son and found this to be beneficial when he eventually transitioned to his own room. He was familiar with the room and the surroundings so it wasn't as traumatic as some stories I have heard.

Best of luck!
