I actually overheard a women at the gym talking about VBACs, she was from Germany and she said they do them all the time over there, I guess the insurance here in the US is too crazy for OB's to do vbac's, isn't it sad how insurance co's can dictate that kind of stuff?

Like JustPeachy, I had a c-section and a great experience. I would definitely have another c-section with my next baby based on my prior experience. I have a friend, on the other hand, who had a c-section 5 weeks before me and was still on pain meds when I came home from the hospital, and I was on none. I had mine due to Premature Rupture of Membranes/failure to progress, so a repeat c-section is probably just assumed this time around.

I actually had a CBAV!!! (I just made that term up.) My first birth was a very traumatic vaginal birth...10 lb. baby, no epidural due to a bad reaction, 4th degree tear, etc. My OB opted for a c-section for my second birth beacuse Alex was measuring large & she did not want to run the risk of me tearing again & having permanent damage "down below". Now, everyone is different as we all know. But, my c-section was all around a better experience including the recovery which was less painful than my vaginal recovery. I also had some incision issues & ended up on an antibiotic, but overall, would definately opt for a c-secition if I were to have another baby.

I actually did have a VBAC. My first son was a csection d/t a quack doctor (who wanted quick and easy money in my opinion). Medical charts say it was due to a large knot on the right side of my son's head, but no one in my family (myself included) ever saw it. My scar is even side to side. They had told me then because of that I could never have a v birth. 4 years later and a new WONDERFUL doc, 2nd DS was delivered with no trouble. I had really wanted to do it that way. Just something about it and I am SO glad it worked out!

I give you ladies who have had c/s such credit!!! I was terrified when they said I might need one with Tristan (he was measuring very big). I was so scared I wouldn't be able to take care of everyone especially a newborn while on pain meds (and forget breast feeding). I had to have stitiches after Mandy (episotimy sp?) and that part was so bad so I'm thinking stitches from a c/s was gonna have to be 1000% times worse. I wasn't looking forward to either way of delivering but my new ob was AWESOME. Tristan was almost 3 lbs heavier than Mandy and with 3 pushes and some pulling on her end I didn't need to be cut so this time I considered my delivery easy and wonderful (even though the epidural didn't work).

Not to hijack the thread but what do you all think about these so called "to posh to push" women? I saw a show on the Discovery channel. These women opt for elective c-sections. They claim to be too busy to worry about going in to labor and need to have everything scheduled. They all admitted there was no medical reason for it just a choice they made (well one women's reason was she thought her hubby would look at "her" differently if he saw a baby come out there).

I don't want to sound like my experience was horrible. My c-section itself couldn't have gone better, it was my recovery. I didn't need to stay on pain meds long and what I did take didn't interfer with my breastfeeding. Only time will tell.
