question about gluecophage,quick

Are they supposed to start you on a low dosage and then up the dosage as you get used to it. A month ago I started on 500. Now she wants me on 1000. The stuff kind of makes me sick at 500. What is a 1000 going to do to me. I admit that my dr knows nearly nothing about this, so I need to know if she is right about this before I go fill this perscription. What is the reason behind this upage?

Re: question about gluecophage,quick

Yes, that's what they usually do. Many people have problems with diarrhea/GI upset in the beginning so they start out slow and then gradually bring you up. I'm now on 850 mg twice a day or 1700 mg. It was 500 mg three times a day but I kept forgetting to take the third dose.
