I'm thin with PCOS. 5'1'' and 112 lbs. when diagnosed. I think those of us that are thin have it worse. Clomid didn't touch me, but I got pregnant with injectables 1st time. Second time around has been very different. I am 4 years older but still in my 20's so it doesn't make sense. I have also gotten worse side effects of PCOS. I'm 131 lbs. now and have horrible acne, very irregular periods and am completely anovulatory.

sorry replying late...but just wanted to share some things...I am myself a thin cyster...PCOS was diagnosed years back and was very thin...though have put on a lot of weight after marriage bt still 120lbs and 5.1".....
amy had mentioned about light mid cycle spotting...I am not sure but in rare cases this could be related to ovulation as well...try to google it and what else a PCOSer would want...indication of ovulation! regarding one of the side effects OHSS...I had the worst form after my first IVF and it could be very serious...so I suggest PCOSers must read a lot about it and take precautions like eating a high protein diet and loads of water (with electrolyte) beforehand the egg collection and continuing as well....if anybody need further help regarding OHSS, I will be more than happy to reply.... take care all....! |

Skinny Cyster?
Hi everyone! I was just diagnosed with PCOS a week ago. I am 5'3 115 lbs and 23 years old! My doctor said I am not the typical looking PCOS patient. The tech that did my ultrasounds exact words were, "I could walk into a grocery store and tell you who has PCOS and who doesn't, but you don't fit that mold." I searched online and most of the sites tell you to loose weight! I don't need to loose weight, I don't have acne, excess hair growth...I don't have any symptoms except my period comes every other month instead of every month. I do have mood swings, but I think that is all in my head since I am so frustrated with the diagnosis...they seem to have started recently! I feel helpless!
My husband and got married one year ago and plan on TTC in about a year. I went of BC about 9 months ago to get it out of my system and we have been using condoms for the last nine months. I am wondering if we even need to use BC if we aren't trying? Can you get pregnant with out fertility drugs with PCOS? I am also wondering if there is ANYTHING I can do to cure PCOS naturally? I do eat pretty healthy and exercise. But I read about vitamins and not eating certain foods. I had my bloodwork done for my blood sugar levels and they were normal. I don't have diabetes either... Let me know if you have found any answers or good books that don't talk about loosing weight! I don't think there are many of us "Skinny Cysters" |

Liltangirl,
I've found Jilian Michaels book Master your Metabolism to be pretty good. She even devotes a few pages to PCOS. Who knew what you eat affects your hormones. I think you'll be fine. Did you doctor put you on Metformin by any chance?
