Ovarian Drilling
Hi, Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has thought of ovarian drilling for PCOS. I had it done about four years ago and am so glad! My cycle regulated, I ovulated, and had successful pregnancies. I recommended to a friend who had the same results. I just wanted to pass it along. It was an easy surgery and so worth it. My only regret was wasting time with fertility meds before having it done. Best wishes for all of you! |

I did ovarian drilling about a year and a half ago, and it didn't work at all for me - I didn't even ovulate once. Isn't it insane how our bodies react???

Here is from Fertility C.A.R.E. - Comprehensive & Compassionate Reproductive Healthcare in Florida:
Laparoscopic ovarian drilling is a surgical treatment that can trigger ovulation in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) who have not responded to weight loss and fertility medication. Electrocautery or laser is used to destroy a portion of the ovaries. You can google it for more information. For some reason when the cysts are removed, the ovaries can begin to function normally again. It may not work if you have other issues but for me it was awesome. It was like finally receiving THE CURE for a lifetime illness. Best wishes for all. |

I have had it done in the past too. I had regular cycles for the first 4 months but never ovulated. I don't think there is anything to be afraid of. It is worth the try in my eyes.

My doctor mentioned it as an option for us but I opted out.
My concern was the possibility that it would cause scar tissue and "make" me infertile. Plus there was no gaurantee that it would work. Instead I went foreward with the injectables that give you the exact hormones necessary to ovulate, without the risk of causing permanent damage to my ovaries. The injectables worked great for me...I usually over responded so they would have to monitor me more closely..but it worked out perfectly and now we have our precious little man in our arms.

Hi ladies, I just wanted to post my experience with ovarian drilling I had this procedure back in october. I got pregnant immediately but that pregnancy sadly did end in a miscarriage. I am however currently pregnant and I conceived with no medications. I have never had cycles on my own before the surgery. I was taking a financial break and to our suprise we got pregnant. I definitely think its worth a try and because its a medical surgery and not a fertility surgery it was covered by our insurance which doesn't cover fertility costs. Hope this helps.
