Removal of one ovary

Hi there..........I was wondering if any of you ladies know anything about having only one ovary removed. I don't even know if that is something that is possible. I guess I should give you a little background on myself. I have PCOS, and in February of last year I had a cyst on my left ovary removed, also I had ovarian drilling done on both ovaries. I was having extreme monthly pain due to the cyst on my ovary. Well, I was fine for a while after the cyst was removed, now I'm starting to feel like another one is developing. I am starting to get that awful pain again, and it's just so extreme that I am seriously thinking of having that left ovary removed. I have absolutely NO pain from my right ovary. Of course my main concern would be the affects it might have on my fertility. Does anyone know anything about this? If it is something that the docs would do?

Hi

I lost my left ovary in Dec 01 due to a 6x7cm hemmorging cyst. The cysts literally surrounded my enitre ovary. I went through IVF in 07 and luckly got pregnant. The only drawback at the time was that with one ovary...and being a poor responder...I ended up with only 6 eggs that were fertilized. Thank goodness it only takes one.
