Pcos, Bmi & Ttc (piog)

Do you think 5lbs could really make that much of a difference? Seriously. Tell me what you think.

Here's why I ask...
I got my 1st period @ 15y/o & never had another "spontaneous" period since (always RX induced). I finally got PG Aug '08 (clomid + metformin + IUI). @ that time my stats were height: 4'10", weight: 110lbs, BMI = 23.0 Normal BMI 18.5-24.9). I've not weighed less than 110lbs all my adult life. I have recently dropped all the baby weight & than some (I'm 106 lbs - BMI = 22.2). I've begun having regular periods. What do you guys think??? Could just a little bit of weight (5lbs) make that much of a difference???

BTW -- I'm NOT on BCP, metformin or any other meds. I acutally haven't even started my folic acid or prenatal vits yet.

Anxious to hear everyone's input... We're going to try for baby #2 this fall. I will go back to see OB/GYN in June. May see RE if not PG by Jan 2010.

I know they say that just a 5% drop in weight can positively impact a lot of health things (like blood pressure and whatnot). So for 110 pounds, that would be 5 1/2 pounds. There's no reason not to think that losing so little could be at least in part responsible for the change.

thin with PCOS

I'm new to this forum and was just recently diagnosed with PCOS. I was on BC for about 8 years and stopped taking it 1.5 years ago - haven't had a natural period since. I'm 5'4 and 105# - underweight, which most doctors blamed as the reason for not having a menstrual cycle.
I am a dietitian and uncomfortable taking harsh medications. Currently I am trying a no sugar diet. I've never had my insulin levels checked, but I've seen several studies with successful conception from diet modifications. Also, my sister has PCOS and has 5 children. She swears that all she did was eliminate sugar from her diet for about 3 months and she got pregnant.

Anyone on here have experience with PCOS and diet modification? I've been off sugar for about 3 weeks now, so I'm hoping it works!!
