New to PCOS (please help)
Hello Ladies,
I am new to this but I am in need of support from fellow PCOS'. I am 25 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS on 6/16/09. Doctor started me on Prometrium 200mg and I am hoping it works. If it does not then he will put me on something for insulin and prescribe me Clomid. Have any of you ladies had any luck with Clomid??? I was really upset yesterday but I am feeling a little better today. Any advice or encouragement will be greatly appreciated!!!!! to get soon!!!! |

If part of your PCOS is insulin resistance, taking Metformin can have huge benefits. After starting that and then starting medication for an underactive thyroid a couple months later, I was able to lose weight much more easily without doing much different. For some women, the Met alone will regulate their cycles. My RE had me wait a little while after starting Metformin before starting fertility treatment to give the meds some time to work. I did manage to get pregnant on Clomid alone, but it was an ectopic pregnancy that had to be terminated. Best of luck to you!

Good luck to you! I also have PCOS and have heard it's one of the easiest fertility problems to treat (who ever said that has never tried to get pregnant :-)
I too took Metformin in the beginning for all of my IUI's. The medication has some very yucky side effects, but looking at the whole picture, it wasn't so bad. It's a tough road ahead, but going to be well worth it! Hang in there!!!!
