New to PCOS (please help)

Hello Ladies,
I am new to this but I am in need of support from fellow PCOS'. I am 25 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS on 6/16/09. Doctor started me on Prometrium 200mg and I am hoping it works. If it does not then he will put me on something for insulin and prescribe me Clomid. Have any of you ladies had any luck with Clomid??? I was really upset yesterday but I am feeling a little better today. Any advice or encouragement will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

to get soon!!!!

If part of your PCOS is insulin resistance, taking Metformin can have huge benefits. After starting that and then starting medication for an underactive thyroid a couple months later, I was able to lose weight much more easily without doing much different. For some women, the Met alone will regulate their cycles. My RE had me wait a little while after starting Metformin before starting fertility treatment to give the meds some time to work. I did manage to get pregnant on Clomid alone, but it was an ectopic pregnancy that had to be terminated. Best of luck to you!

Good luck to you! I also have PCOS and have heard it's one of the easiest fertility problems to treat (who ever said that has never tried to get pregnant :-)
I too took Metformin in the beginning for all of my IUI's. The medication has some very yucky side effects, but looking at the whole picture, it wasn't so bad.
It's a tough road ahead, but going to be well worth it! Hang in there!!!!
