thin with PCOS...answers?

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with PCOS a week ago. I am 5'3 and 115 lbs, I am 23 years old. My doctor said I am not the typical looking PCOS patient. The tech that did my ultrasounds exact words were "I could walk into a grocery store and tell you who has PCOS and who doesn't, but you don't fit that mold."

I have searched online and most of the sites and books tell you to loose weight! I don't need to loose weight, I don't have acne, I don't have excess hair growth or diabetes...the only symptom I have is that my period comes every other month instead of every month. I do have mood swings but they seem to have started after I was told I could have PCOS. I am more frustrated than anything! I feel helpless!

My husband and I got married one year ago and are going to TTC in about a year. I went off BC 9 months ago and have been using condoms since then. I am wondering if I need to use BC at all if we aren't trying? Can a person get pregnant with PCOS get pregnant with out the use of fertility drugs? Is there any way to ovulate naturally? I do eat healthy and exercise regularly. I read about taking vitamins and eating or not eating certain foods, but that was more to do with loosing weight than trying to cure PCOS.

Let me know if you have any anwers or know any good books that deal more with coping with PCOS and natural remedies...not loosing weight!

^ Yes, it is still possible. You could ovulate at some point.

lil-
I am also 5'3" 115lbs and was diagnosed with PCOS.
Ask/research the drug metformin, it can really help your chances of conceiving naturally.
I know things seem overwhelming at this point... hang in there!
Greatest luck to you!
