Question TTC with PCOS and Hypothyroid trying clomid

We just started the journy of TTC. I've known I've have PCOS for almost 5 years now (i'm 23). I do not ovulate. A month ago the Dr took some blood tests and tested my thyroid and turns out i'm hypothyroid which i hear is very common with women who have PCOS. During that Doctors apt my Doctor put me on a number of things: Fish oil 4g, D-3 1000mg, baby asprin, prenatals, metformin 1500mgs, and levothroxine 25 mgs. This up coming thursday i have an apt with the dr and he is going to start clomid. I have heard several bad things about clomid that scares me. Does anyone have anything positive to say about it? Anybody with PCOS and Hypo with success story? Also has anyone else tried those vitamins to help fight PCOS? Im starting to get discouraged. Thanks!

Hello,
My birthday is July 2nd of the same year. I just got diagnosed with infertility. I know I am young but I'm so heartbroken I just want a family like everyone else, and I will now have to go on different treatments.

I hear you, its really hard not to be able to achieve something that so many others can. But im an optimistic person so i wish for the best. My doctor says there is no reason to say "if" we have kids. He says to say "when". But i think he is just being positive. I'm just in serious need for some support from people who have gone through or are going through the same thing because around here, everything is getting pregnant and just can't understand whats wrong with me.

Exclamation

Ok maybe you are getting some of this to. Some ignorant people are telling me I'm too young to try to start to have children. By the way, what is ttc? I'm still not in tune with all the abbrevations, but I have had many problems in the past

TTC mean trying to concieve. Thats the only abbrv i know! heehee I had one RE told me that he had more "urgent" paitents to handle. WHen i questioned the "urgent" he said those over 30. so i told him he could forget me as a paitent.

Cool

My doctor isn't but a couple of ignorant people in the family are trying to tell me to wait but the doctor is telling me to go ahead. I am listening to the people who have doctorates in Medicine. I also have an aunt who is a biologist and she is telling me to go ahead

I know that it is hard. I also have PCOS as well as an underactive thyroid. I just started seeing a fertility specialist where I live and have been given Metformin to take, I am taking 1500mg of that, as well as a prenatal vitamin, folic acid and can't forget my thyroid med. so I feel like I am always taking some kind of pill! I am also in my 20's and feel like everyone around me is getting pregnant! I want my turn!

Your journey sounds familiar to mine. I was diagnosed with PCOS at about 20 or 21 I can't recall. Last summer I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism but I'm only on levothyroxine .025mgs. I've done clomid but it didn't work for me. I'm at 50mgs. I don't know if they'll increase it but that's generally where they start. If after 3 or 6 months you have no response they'll send your husband for a Sperm Analysis ( S.A.) and then continue or change your drugs. This way they can rule out the husband. I'm 25 but we've been TTC for about 1.5 years.

Want to send husband to urologist.

RE sending me for Glucose Test on 7/23 - normal.

A Menopur Success Story!

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism and am on my 2nd successful pregnancy! Don't give up hope!! I only had one period the entire year we TTC naturally and did not ovulate. I HIGHLY recommend seeing an RE (reproductive endocrinologist) ASAP. Don't waste your time with an OB/GYN. They are very well intentioned, but RE's are specialists in this stuff.

They put me on Metformin, which brought back my cycles, even though they were still around 44 days long. I got pregnant on my first round of Letrozole, but we lost that one. I took Letrozole instead of Clomid because I was afraid of the "Clomid crazies" that you're referring to. Then we did a couple of round with Letrozole and Gonal-F injections. Finally, we tried Menopur injections and got pregnant on our first round! That produced our beautiful baby girl 13 1/2 months ago.

Well, since I didn't think I could conceive on my own, we didn't worry about BCP after I had my daughter. I BF for 5 1/2 months and still had not had a period. Even with no period at all, I found out that I was pregnant when my daughter was 10 months old!! Definitely do NOT give up hope!! It will happen for you!

Let me know if you have questions.
