In Need of Encouragement

I'm 24 my husband and I have been ttc for over a year now. Its been a strange ride over the last year and a half. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS last year. Nothing seems to be working. Seems like we've tried everything we can to conceive on our own including using Vitex and some vitamin supplements. My GYN as been really supportive throughout this process and I am about to start my first round of Clomid+Metformin at the beginning of September. I have an identical twin sister who has two children already and none of the problems I do. I am so frustrated! Today is just one of those days where I feel really down. Looking for some encouragement/ a buddy to help me through this.

Hi Rachhaines,
I was just diagnosed this year with PCOS as well and know how frustrating it can be to be surrounded by people getting pregnant with ease when I'm struggling. The good news is it doesn't look like you have exhausted your options by a long shot. Are you seeing a fertility specialist or a regular OBGYN? If clomid and metformin aren't working for you, you should be moving onto injectibles to make you ovulate and possibly even IUI. That is the route my husband and I are taking since I wasn't responsive to Clomid or metformin either. The best advice I can give you is to see a specialist or go to a clinic that specilaizes in fertility so you can get all the testing needed for them to decide the best treatment options.

Good Luck!

Hey RachHaines,

I was recently diagnosed as well. I was telling my younger sister about it all, so she went and got tested and her dr says she doesnt have it! Which shocked me because we have the same symptoms. The only difference between us is that she exercises more than I do....needless to say I've upped my amount of exercise! But I find it fascinating your twin sister doesn't have it. That is so odd, since they say it runs in families. I'm pretty sure my older sister has it, but there's no way she's going to be tested and they took a "what's meant to be, will be" approach to fertility and just decided they weren't going to have kids. Well, I'm a whole lot more stubborn! lol! I'm fighting it every inch of the way!
I love this board for TTC issues, but if you really want support for PCOS try the soulcysters board. It's fantastic for general pcos issues. There's a small section for ttc. The moderator puts up tons of links for new research for pcos. The latest says you need to be on Metformin for at least 3 months for it to be most effective. You gotta get all the androgen affected eggs out. Anyway check it out if you can. There's a few of us here, if you need us. And we completely understand what you're going through.

Good luck with your next cycle!
