Red face Tell Me What I Could Do To Get Started

Hi
I Have Pcos And I Was Told To Start On Birth Control Pills To Get My Period Going. But I Stoped Them Because I Was Getting A Period But Coult'nt Come Out Pg Because Of The Pills. I Was Also Looseing My Hair. And Now I Don't Know What To Do What Doctor Do I Have To Go To. And What Do I Say To Him If He Wants To Put Me On Birth Control Pills. I Have Also Been On Provera And Colmid But Not Yet Pregnet. Does Any One Now About Any Insurance That Could Cover Infertility?

Nina,

I wrote you a post on another thread, but just read here that your hair is falling out. This is a red flag for thyroid problems which are associated with PCOS and infertility. Again you NEED to see a reproductive endocrinologist and they will do a full workup. Just tell him/her that you want a workup/evalution for infertility.

In the meantime, you should immediately ask whichever doctor you are with now (even your general practitioner) to test your thyroid levels-- the test is TSH (thryoid stimulating hormone). Be sure that this number is 2.5 or below (regardless of what your doctor says is "normal"). You may have no problem at all, but hair falling out is a typical symptom of hyporthroidism.
