Do those birth announcements get you all teary-eyed when they appear in your mailbox? If so, how do you cope? Do you send a card or a gift? Do you visit the new baby? Do you simply ignore it all? Just curious on how people deal with those pesky announcements when all you want to do is send out one of your own!

Yes, they do make me cry. But, I try to realize that's my problem, and do whatever I'd do anyway. If it's a close friend or neighbor, I send a gift. If it's an aquintance, I send a nice card.

They don't really "upset" me...they do make me think, there's one more person in the world who is preggo. But at the same time, a baby is SUCH a precious gift that everyone deserves to be that happy and blessed. I get very excited and overjoyed for those who have a baby. I usually go all out on baby gifts, I can't help it..I love to baby shop!!

I don't get them unless it's close family and friends so I am happy that they have a healthy baby. It's the people that I don't think need another child think 8th and 9th child (Twins) going to be born to a mother at my school. That is when I start judging which I know is my BIG mistake.

I'm with you on the people i dont think need another one. I'm very happy for my friends who get pregnant, i wouldnt wish this on anyone, but for my friends that already have a young baby and decide they want another one just because someone else is pregnant, upset me. I have two friends on thier 3rd baby with one still in diapers. It's like great I know your fertile you dont have to prove it to me. I also always cry when i find out anyone is pregnant, but its just becuase i want it to be me so bad.

I cry when I find out teenagers, druggies, or people who didn't want the pregnancy but stuck to it anyways get pregnant... which is pretty much every time I find out someone is pregnant. My long time friend, whom I love dearly, started dating this girl, casually, for a month and woops... she's pregnant. Shotgun wedding and the baby was born yesterday. I'm trying to be happy for them but I'm like, Um, hello? Is that what I should have done? What is it about these people that makes it so easy to pregnant and me impossible? I'm married, my husband is so wonderful, we're stable, we're good people, and we could raise a child very well.
Well, then my mom (who knows everything) tells me something that made me go, "hmm". Babies that come into the world to people who "don't deserve them" could be the only hope that those people have. My mom had me and my sister during her wild, drinking days (She'd be one of the people I've always said didn't deserve it) and she said that because of Katie and I, she came out of her stupor and wanted a better life for us. She quit all that lifestyle, took us to church, and provided a life for us that she never had... a baby to an "undeserving" couple may be the only lifeline that they ever receive. Well, the fact of the matter is, at the very least, no one will ever be able to tell my child that he/she was an accident. My child will always feel loved and always know that his/her parents would do anything for him/her, provided it's in his/her best interest, of course!

I only have a really hard time when it is someone that brags about how easy it is. I saw a young girl (probably about 15) the other day that was very pregnant smoking a cigarette and I called my DH crying wondering why she will have a healthy baby and we can't....I feel guilty sometimes because I really don't want anyone to have to go through this but it is hard some days....
As for a christening gift I would send a savings bond in a card and be done with it. Then you don't have to shop for a baby and it is something nice for the future (we give a lot of savings bonds - even before our IF problem)

Hello,
I am new to this thread, and I know its a bit late posting to it, but just had to say it, I feel angry when I see women around me not wanting a baby and still getting pregnant, a co-worker of mine got pregnant last year did'nt want the baby and she smoked like 20 ciggys a day And then there is my SIL when she found out that we where ttc this year, she got pregg before us, I was so pissed coz she had previously said that she wants no more ![]()
